Airport Power

Airport Power

We're mapping out every power socket in every airport in the world!

Have you stopped at an airport, before or between flights, and spent a long time looking for a power socket? Let's fix that today.

With Airport Power, you can easily see all power sockets in your area which people have submitted.
If you see a power socket that isn't on the map, you can quickly and easily pin it from the app so that you and others can find it in future!

This is a crowd-sourced app - we need your help to make it a success. If you're at an airport, stand next to a power socket and submit it!

We'll never be without power again!

FAQ:
Q: Why don't I see any power sockets near me?
A: The app only shows you power sockets within 10 miles of your location, for performance and so that we don't drain your battery and use up your bandwidth. If you're in an airport and still don't see power sockets listed, you may be the first user of the app in the airport - help everyone and start mapping any power sockets you see!

Q: How do I submit a power location?
A: Stand next to the socket, press the menu button, then choose to submit the marker. It will be publicly visible within a few moments.

Q: Can I delete an accidental submission?
A: Refresh your power locations, then click on the marker and push the button to tell us the marker is gone. We will manually review requests to remove markers and take the appropriate action.

Q: Who can see the power locations i submit?
A: All locations are public. Anyone within 10 miles of you will be able to see it :-)

Q: Your app needs a lot of permissions! Why?!
A: Here's a list of the permissions and why we need them:
READ GOOGLE SERVICE CONFIGURATION: This is needed to allow Google Maps (and other Google services, which we don't use) to function.

NETWORK COMMUNICATION and RECEIVE DATA FROM INTERNET: This enables your app to connect to the internet, to download the latest power outlet locations.

VIEW NETWORK CONNECTIONS: If you don't have an internet connection, we need a way to detect this and let you know that the app won't work until you get some internet access. This permission is required for that.

PRECISE LOCATION: This permission enables the app to locate you, so that we know where to zoom to on the map, and which power outlet locations to primarily display.

CONTROL VIBRATION: Related to the notifications mentioned above. If you have your phone on vibrate and we send you a message, this permission allows the app to vibrate your phone. Without it, the app would crash if your phone is set to vibrate.

STORAGE: When you open the app for the first time, there is a welcome message. When you acknowledge the message, we need to store that acknowledgement. This permission lets us save that data to a key-value database on the phone. It doesn't let us access any other data on the device.
