AlpineQuest GPS Hiking (Lite)

AlpineQuest GPS Hiking (Lite)

AlpineQuest Lite is the free solution for all outdoor activities and sports, including hiking, running, trailing, hunting, sailing, geocaching, off-road navigation and much more.

You can access and store locally a large range of on-line topographic maps, which will remain available even while being out of cell coverage. AlpineQuest also supports on-board file based maps, like MemoryMap(c) maps.

By using the GPS and the magnetic sensor of your device (with compass display), getting lost is part of the past: you are localized in real-time on the map, which can also be oriented to match where you are looking at.

By staying fully operational out of cell coverage (as often in mountain or abroad), AlpineQuest assists you in all your desires of deep wilderness exploring...

Note: IGN Top25(c) and OSGB Explorer(c) maps are available in the old MemoryMap(c) QCT format, but NOT included with the application.

No support for Droid X?

Seriously fantastic hiking app. You customize each map before you go, so it takes a few minutes but then you have an awesome custom map that you can access with no data.

Works great on my HTC desire. Prefer this on Android over Garmin XT on S60. Map importing works great from the desktop app which not only works from Win, but also from Mac and Linux

Waste of Time, Space, Money, Memory and a waste of programing and so much more Advertised items don't work in free version converting maps from paid version takes your premium map builds and saved areas away even if you move to directory of free version. Eats memory. I gave there offline maps a star it was more deserveing it more then this. They limited our maps and the USGS use & there recomendation will be pulled because they charge for what is supposed to be free. Better Business Bureau will get another complaint. Write Google Play have it Removed!!!!

The only app for offline mapping better than this one is their paid version I don't know what the previous two, one-star reviewers are talking about. Ignore them. This free version allows offline use and everything works as expected. I have just created a map using MOBAC (free PC software) of the my locality in the UK with both 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 scales in two layers. AlpineQuest reads and uses it perfectly from the phone's SD card. AlpineQuest automatically switches from one layer to the other on zooming in/out. Scrolling and zooming are smooth and fast. Garmin should buy this software for their GPS units (I own a few of them). A couple of days ago I had a question about making my own maps - it was answered by the AlpineQuest within a day. The support is terrific and the app is under active development and improvement, unlike some others around here. Seriously, if you want a good offline mapping app for hiking or similar outdoors activities, this is by far the best you will find. Oh, and if you own old Memory Map QCT maps like I do, this reads them perfectly too. Better than MM's own app does. I'm off to buy the paid version now.

Please donot waste your memory space downloading this app A colossal waste of time and memory space plus price to pay for data,,,,,for downloading. The free version is a horrible waste of time... and going by the features ,,the paid version wont be worth it. DO the developers actually go through other apps ,,, how do u decide the pricing>>?? funy
