User reviews of AlpineQuest GPS Hiking
My favourite app for cycling route finding, and the off-line mapping is excellent too for when I get out in the sticks. I reviewed this and said that you couldn't view a route without the waypoint names getting in the way - I was wrong, you can!

This is the best of its kind out there @ the moment.

This is an excellent application. On my HTC Desire it quickly locates my position and shows it on a map that I have stored on the SD card. The market is full of applications like this, but most download the maps from the Internet, rendering them useless in the countryside where there is often no mobile phone signal at all. This application stores the maps locally bypassing this problem. You can even import GPS tracks from walking websites and follow paths that others have already taken. Highly recommended.

Works great on my HTC desire. Prefer this on Android over Garmin XT on S60. Map importing works great from the desktop app which not only works from Win, but also from Mac and Linux

An essential for world walkers This app is worth every cent! I have used it mainly in Australia but am currently using it in the Netherlands with great success. I have found ability to use different maps a great tool. I will say, as an experienced bushwalk, it is one of the tools that should be used, along a good compass and accurate contour maps if going off track. Well done, gold star and an elephant stamp!

The Oracle Used this app for a week-long back country mountain bike trip in Colorado. Used off-line maps with a preloaded gpx track. It saved us many times and was dubbed "The Oracle." It has a learning curve, especially when locating stored files, but the features and ability and ease of downloading free maps makes it better than other more commercial offerings. The companion free PC software, Mobile Atlas Creator is a must have. I am a geologist and would say that this system is designed for the field scientist.
