Aqua Mail - email app

Aqua Mail - email app

AquaMail is an email app for Internet and Exchange mail, for Android 4.0.3 and higher.

Version 1.5.5 - in staged (gradual) rollout, to be available on all devices soon.

Easy automatic setup for popular email services: Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, FastMail, Apple mail services (@me.com / @mac.com), GMX, AOL, and more. Recognizes mail accounts at domains hosted by Google Apps, Yahoo BizMail, and others.

Works with many other email services via standard Internet email protocols (IMAP, POP3, SMTP) as well as Microsoft’s EWS (Exchange Web Services) protocol.

Microsoft Exchange is supported via IMAP or EWS. EWS includes access to server side contacts (personal and global, with search), and Calendar sync (since version 1.5.5).

Easy automatic setup for Office 365 and Exchange Online.

Push mail for IMAP (instant incoming email delivery) for those servers that support the IDLE extension (Gmail, GMX, AOL… not supported by Yahoo).

Plays well with other email apps that you may be using to access your IMAP or EWS mailbox. Uses existing folder structure, can synchronize drafts, sent, and deleted messages.

Widgets (message counts, message list).

Swiping in message list (actions) and between messages (both new in 1.5.0, which is in a staged rollout, not visible from every device yet).

Can save attachments on the memory card.

Message auto-fit (like in Gmail).

Rich text formatting when writing messages (including embedding pictures).

Android Wear (4.3+).

OAUTH2 for Gmail.

Integration with Tasker (change settings, trigger mail check, message based events).

Integration with Light Flow, Enhanced SMS & Caller ID, Cloud Print, Apex Launcher Pro, Nova Launcher / Tesla Unread, Executive Assistant, DashClock Widget.

Lots of settings to configure the application just the way *you* would like. Separate settings for WiFi and mobile connections.

This is the Lite version, which is limited to two accounts, no identities, and adds a promo signature to all outgoing messages with a link to the program's web site.

You can add more than two accounts, use identites, and remove the signature by purchasing the Pro key here on Market at any time.

User reviews of Aqua Mail - email app
1/5/2013 Only use this with one account however the app works great. Simple. Sleek. No force close errors. Plenty of options for syncing & with mail options in general. Nice clean interface. Emails display quickly with attachments on separate panel to the right. Plenty of options. Can backup settings to SD card. Like the app. Will probably end up getting the pro key at some point. Recommended :)

Very good Great email client from the word go. Lots of options, but most not really that necessary - though does mean that if you do need to adjust something it can take a little bit of hunting. The only feature I would like to see would be automatic check on activation. I intentionally don't have scheduled checks, but it would be nice if it would do a check when I run it, rather than have to force a refresh as a second step. I know that with the way apps are minimised, it's not quite as simple as "when the app is run" in practice, but there must be a trigger when the app is activated by any means, and you could test if that was the first time within say 10 (or a specified number of) minutes which would be reasonable time to base the logic. Will be interested to see what happens with my wife's installation on Android 2.3 now that's no longer supported. I wonder if it will vanish, or just no longer receive updates.

Still NO encryption This email client is a nice toy but day to day more unusable, as more and more people use PGP and the author IGNORES any requests regarding this. So for anybody looking for a secure email communication: this is a nice colorful toy and not a real solution. How dumb is it to spend dev time into colors and gadgets ignoring the most important thing: communicating securely. For stuff like birthday wishes ok, for business useless. Upd: the author still ignores PGP, app is still useless for critical communication.

Hands down, the best With HTML emails, identities, tons of other options, and no dependence on a cloud service (direct IMAP/POP access), this is the best email app I have found.

STILL The Best - BY FAR! STILL the best Android email app. I have been using AquaMail for over three years. Occasionally, I'll look at other apps - just to see what's new. But, I've never found one better than AquaMail. App is flexible, responsive, efficient and reliable. The only app I've found that has a rich text editor to make my "mobile" messages virtually indistinguishable from mail sent from my PC. The few times I've had a problem or question, Kostya Vasilyev is so responsive that I contend the man never sleeps! Give me more than five stars and I'll use them all - and I don't rate that many apps.
