ADSB Receiver Pro

** Please note: YOU NEED ADDITIONAL HARDWARE TO USE THIS APP **

This app enables your device to display live ADSB data (1090ES) from surrounding airborne aircraft. All you need is a supported USB dongle and an OTG cable, both available from various sources on the internet for less than $20.-.

The received data can also be used to display live air traffic in Avare:
http://hiz.ch/fwd/ps.Avare.html

Visit http://hiz.ch for more details!

USAGE

Attach a supported USB dongle to your Android device using an OnTheGo (OTG) cable. (Make sure your device supports OTG!) This app will automatically start once a device has been detected. Answer `yes` if you are asked to auto-open the app, it will immediately try to receive ADSB data. You should see packages flowing in quickly, depending on your location.

Please note: you need to restart the app if you attach a device while the app is already running.

If you`re using Avare:
Simply start the Avare External I/O Plugin app, select `WIFI` and activate listening on port 43211. You will start to see other airplane on the Avare map, once enough data has been gathered. Please make sure to enable the related option `Show ADSB Traffic` in Avare.

Pretty satisfied so far... Purchased the app yesterday. Setup was easy. I immediately started seeing traffic on Avare and on the Google Map from inside my house. I noticed that more information is available about the traffic if you tap on the jet icon when viewing it on Google Map. The only information displayed on Avare is the aircraft symbols direction and the altitude. It might be more useful for a pilot using this app if you could tap the symbol in Avare and have the heading and airspeed displayed along with the altitude. I also read somewhere that this app was dual band. I took that to mean that not only 1080 but 978 Mhz traffic would be displayed. Is that correct? Battery usage is pretty high even with the device set on airplane mode using my Samsung Note II. I look forward to continued improvements with the app especially the potential for it to be able to display weather and general aviation traffic. Good Work!!
