A frequent complaint from some, new to NN (neural net) backgammon programs is "the program cheats". No, it does not cheat. If you are not convinced of this, try one of the NN programs (gnubg, jellyfish) that offer a "manual dice" feature. You will find that they win just as well you roll the dice or not. The perception that a skilled opponent is always incredibly lucky is a due to a combination of human nature..we remember our bad luck and forget the good rolls, and an ignorance of the subtle methods that experienced players use to maximize their chances.

Backgammon Mobile is released under GPL v3 license.

Quite good, but needs work: 1) Freezes for long periods. I thought it might be an ad thing, so I bought the ad-free version. Still happens. 2) Sometimes it won't let you bear off when a legal move is available. To fix: save, exit, restart. This gets quite annoying. 3) Stats need work. I have played a TON of games and wanted fresh stats on its miraculous ability to get in when 4 or 5 points are covered to see if it was "just me". I reset the stats and played 2 dozen games or so. The re-entry stats still showed all entries as 100% or no info. They did finally come up, but who knows if they are accurate. 4) Stats need more work. I like to see how many times I have won vs the computer as my game progresses. The stats for wins are reversed! The CPU's total is in my column and visa-versa. Sloppy. 5) Features (for learning) I would like: a) hints like in desktop GNU; and b) the ability to undue past a new dice roll so one can learn from mistakes. Conclusion: a good effort on the part of the developers, but I'm looking forward to improvements.

After hundreds of games, I realized I'd developed an almost unconscious rhythm that I don't have with any other AI, including desktop GNU: a) plant a blot where only one number or one specific roll hits b) immediately plan next move assuming a hit. If no hit, actually feel surprised! Random...? I dunno. Don't have time to do a full analysis (see #3 - I shouldn't have to for re-entries). Features (for learning) I would like: 1) hints like in desktop GNU; and 2) ability to undue past a new dice roll so one can learn from mistakes.

Good game, but missing a vital setting There is no way to set the match length for multi player games. All matches are one point.
