BostonBusMap

BostonBusMap

This app shows locations and predicts bus times in Boston and nearby cities, using GPS info from the MBTA.

Please email [email protected] if you have any problem, and please report a crash if you see one! Twitter feed for bug updates: @bostonbusmap

Basic usage:
- choose a mode by clicking the button on the upper right corner. You can see all vehicles at once, vehicles for a single route, bus predictions for a single route, or only bus predictions on favorited stops
- choose a route by clicking the menu button and clicking "Routes". You can also type in the route in the search textbox
- click on a stop to show the next few buses that are driving by.
- click 'more info' to show more predictions for that stop
- click 'report problem' to report a problem with the predictions
- click the star in the popup (see screenshot) to mark a stop as a favorite
- choose a favorite stop by pressing the menu button and clicking "Favorite stops"
- center on your current location by clicking the menu button and choosing "My Location". The speed and accuracy of location information depends on your phone location settings. You can tweak those in Home -> Settings -> Location & Security
- draw the path along a route by clicking the menu button, going to Settings and selecting "Show route path"
- this app should work for all touchscreen devices that are Android 1.5 and up (which means pretty much all Android phones and tablets). Please let me know if something doesn't work

Recent changes:
Green line vehicle locations now available! Only covers most above ground trains for now.
Thaks Brittany Hamtil for the neat feature graphic!

User reviews of BostonBusMap
Works very well, just as described. Lots of useful information, especially for a Free App. Something that I just noticed about this App. It ALSO tracks the red, orange, blue, and Silver Lines. Which makes it infinately more useful than the other app for JUST trains. This gives you their position in real time. EXCELLENT APP. A MUST for any Android User in Boston.

By far the BEST real-time transit app for MBTA I will forever miss the onscreen drop-down menu for routes rather than having to do a search. My other gripe is I wish the trains could be lumped in with the buses in "predictions at all stops" mode--so you make a quick decision between E Line and 39 or B Line and 57. To Aileen and John M's issue, this app (and every app) gets GPS feed from MBTA, which goes haywire at times...

Author didn't mention this has github powers! This app has almost all the elements I would wish for. And still, the implementation is slightly off. For instance, when displaying busses on a route it only shows the an icon for the bus, but not the route it is taking. The stop info box is also very awkward and out of place (and, particularly, much to big). Open source and let us help make this app better :) Edit: Y U no mention this is GNU licensed with github superpowers? I'll just shut up, give you 5 stars and fork it to my own liking ;)

No longer gives ETA for buses This app used to give the estimated time of arrival for buses but hasn't for a while now, which renders it entirely useless to me. I have updated to no avail. Please fix.
