The Historical Marker Database app for Android finds the nearest historical marker in the HMdb.org database from your current location and opens the details page for that marker at HMdb.org in your browser. From there you can learn more about that marker and find other nearby markers.
Really simple but useful and interesting app and site. The app could be a little fancier, but in the end it does exactly what you can't do just via your mobile browser. It picks up your current location and loads HMDB using your current lat/long. This should show the closest marker (if the marker data is correct AND your phone gets a good GPS location) as well as a list of nearby markers.
To Whitney who said it didn't bring up the closest marker.. this could be because the location is wrong in HMdb or your device didn't have a good GPS lock. GPS is still semi-imprecise with a lot of devices. The marker across the street still should have shown up on the list of nearby markers.
Great and simple app that makes road trips a little more interesting.

Amazing concept but has a hard time finding markers other than the huge ones with some refining could be one of the best aps on the Market.
