Samba Filesharing for Android

Samba Filesharing for Android

Access your Android device over wifi as a Windows shared folder.

* Samba Filesharing server for Android [ Recently updated for JellyBean probs ].
* Your Android device becomes visible to other Windows (& SMB compatible) computers on your network.
* The 'external' storage in your Android device is accessible as a network shared folder.
* Copy files and folders to and from your Android device using drag and drop.
* Customisable username, password, Windows workgroup name, and device network (NETBIOS) name.

Requirements:
* Your Android device must already be rooted and a SuperUser app installed.

Notes:
* On the first run, make sure you catch the SuperUser Auth request to allow the Samba Filesharing app root access.
* If an update from an earlier version fails, try a full uninstall (either from the application manager of your Android device, or the file sharing app 'Menu -> Settings -> Uninstall' option), then re-install from Android Market.
* If you experience problems accessing your device, be sure to try all three methods: Network browser, specifying \\name, & also \\ipaddress.
* You may see 'com.funkyfresh.samba' remain in the Android process list even though you have disabled it from auto-starting. This is normal - whenever the WIFI interface transitions up/down the app needs to run temporarily to check its settings as to whether it should start/stop the filesharing server, after that, its done. Android will kill the inactive process if your device is running low on memory, otherwise the process remains inactive in memory for faster loading next time you launch it.

After a few hours of research I see that I am not the only one having trouble with this app and the Droid Bionic. If anyone has a fix please let me know. I would love to use this app.

Working perfectly. With Samba I replaced the WebSharing app (but still have it as backup:). It doesn't have problems with upload and using it with Freecommander. Awesome app

Seems to be working perfectly. Together with Android Sync-Manager over Wifi, i will never have to plug my phone to anything except the charger. Great Stuff!

Working seamlessly on Dropad A8X. Transfer rate isn't very high - about 0.8MBPS Highly recommended!

Performance isn't incredible, but it just works I originally tried to use another software, which I wasn't able to get to work with Windows, even after digging for information. So I installed this app, and after a quick setup that took about a minute, I was immediately able to access the (rooted) phone's so-called "internal SD" memory from another Windows PC. Throughput performance wasn't good, but it worked without any noticeable problems.

At last I've been waiting for quite too long for this to work again. Thanks for making that possible again.

Great app, but will be better when I can use my external SD Card Great app, but will be better when I can use my external exFAT formatted SD Cards as this is the primary location I store my videos on, which is really the only files I transfer from PC to tablet.
