here!hush location silencer

Have you ever forgotten to turn your phone off during a movie, a business meeting, or at church? Here!hush lets you set “hush points”, particular locations where your ringer should be silenced. When you enter a hush point, the phone will automatically change to your desired settings, and then automatically restore your normal ring when you leave. App timers allow you to hush only at specified times. User designated callers may call through. And the hush area can be set by the user.

We have a number of good silencer competitors. The good ones use GPS because it is very accurate. But GPS uses a LOT of battery. here!hush supplements GPS by using the accelerometer to identify movement of the phone and distance traveled. Consequently, here!hush reduces use of GPS dramatically, conserving your battery. The supplemental information also allows here!hush to very quickly identify entry into and exit from a hushed location. So we are fast, accurate and we conserve battery.

Setting a hush point is as easy as tapping the “hush” arrow when the phone is at your current location. Hush points can also be set anywhere you wish the phone to be quiet, regardless of where you are. Simply scroll to the desired place, or use the search feature to find an address. Then long-press on the map to create a hush point.

The app will show the location address and the hush radius (a red circle if the phone is not hushed, and a green circle if the hush point is active). The default settings silence the ringer and vibrate when the phone is inside the hushed location area. Default settings may be changed by the user.

The app allows the user to specify times, 24/7, when hush is active for each location. Just tap the hushed location, taking you to that location’s settings screen. The user may also specify the radius of the hushed location and may specify callers from the user’s contact list who are allowed to ring despite being in a hushed location. Users can adjust the allowed caller ring volume. Be sure to tap the arrow (“Save”) after making all your changes.

The phone will signal entry into a hush point by vibrating twice. The gray here!apps arrow in the information bar turns blue when you are in a hushed point.

here!hush uses Google maps, which shows your location on the map as a small blue circle surrounded by a light blue circle of uncertainty.

A note about GPS: GPS needs access to the sky in order to receive signals from the GPS satellites. If you are in an entirely closed area with no windows, GPS will not identify your location and setting a hush point in the enclosed area may be a problem.

January 13 2013: I got a new Motorola Bravo android recently. The app works well but the phone occasionally tells me that herehush has been on a long time. Of course, the app has to be on in order to know when the phone has entered or left a hush point. I simply leave the app running and no harm is done. The battery lasts two days with herehush running.

Truly Excellent Use to leave my phone on silent all the time so that it would be silent at work. Since it was always on silent/vibrate, I would miss calls. Now with this app, I don't miss calls when I am away from work because when I leave the vacinity, the volume automatically goes back up!!
