Darker (Screen Filter)

Darker (Screen Filter)

Darker can lower your screen brightness to extremely low levels, to help prevent eyestrain during the night. Use the built-in color filter* to adjust the color of your display, perfect for filtering out harsh white backgrounds during the night.

This app is fully functional and does not include advertisements. Additional paid features are unlockable through an In-app purchase.

Paid features include:

» Auto-On & Auto-Off
» Start at boot
» Lower brightness below 20%
» Darken navigation bar
» Custom filter colors
» Root mode
» Customizable notification buttons
• Up to three buttons can be added for quick access.
• Buttons to increase and decrease the brightness (+5%, -5%, +10%, -10%)
• Buttons to set a specific brightness (@0%, @10%, @20%, ... , @90%, @100%)
• Quick toggles (stop, pause, reset, color filter)

Note: When manually installing APK files, Android blocks the "Install" button from being pressed when Darker is running. This is NOT a bug. It's a protective measure to prevent malicious apps from camouflaging the install button. Pausing Darker will solve this.

*The color filter is similar to how the desktop version of f.lux works. Selecting a redder color will reduce more bluelight emitted from the display.

Darker has Tasker support, use these intents to send commands to Darker:

darker.STOP

darker.COLORSTRENGTH "Extra" field: STRENGTH:1~10

The intent below needs the "Target" field set to "Service"

Galaxy note 2 App works very well. Dims the screen to a reasonable level while in bed or in a movie theatre. Gone are the days of squinting at the phone at night! Only thing that doest work is the option to dim the touch sensitive buttons.

Got stuck on too dark Darker is true to a fault. When in its settings i made the mistake of selecting option to turn screen to lowest brightness - which in this case meant the screen went completely black. Can't adjust brightness manually, physical Home button etc didn't seem to stop working but with black screen there was no way to tell & no way to navigate. Had to reboot phone, tried opening Darker from app menu and the screen went straight back to black, no chance to go back & adjust settings. Have rebooted again & uninstalled. It may work nicely, but an option for lowest brightness shouldn't exist if it makes navigation or turning off (without manual reboot) impossible. (At very least there should be a warning this may happen)

No longer works on lock screen The only function I use this dimmer for is the ability to access the hardware minimum brightness on all devices (something which mine obviously cannot do). Yet, since the last update brightness resets to the system one whenever I'm on the lock screen. Not a huge issue but one I'd like to see fixed. LG Optimus L5
