Description

As featured on the official NHS Digital App Library: https://apps.beta.nhs.uk/echo

**PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING**

ENGLAND ONLY: You must be registered with an NHS England GP to use Echo. We’re working hard to integrate with Wales, Scotland and NI.

18+: Right now we can only handle adult prescriptions, but are building a service for parents.

You can only order on your own behalf. Echo for carers is coming soon.

We cannot process ‘blue script’ prescriptions.

Echo is not a pharmacy, instead we work with community pharmacies based in South East England. These pharmacies deliver medication ANYWHERE in the UK, and prescriptions held by our partners can be sent to ANY registered pharmacy in event of an emergency.

SAY HELLO TO ECHO

Co-founded by patients and backed by a team of NHS doctors and pharmacists, Echo allows you to order repeat prescriptions from your NHS GP and have your medication delivered to you free.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Download the app, then tell us which GP’s practice you’re registered with, and which repeat medications you need.

2. We’ll set you up with one of our partner pharmacies who’ll then place the repeat prescription request with your GP.

3. Your GP sends the prescription electronically to Echo and we send the medication via Royal Mail. If your GP wants to speak with you before prescribing we’ll let you know.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Will Echo work with my GP?
A: We work with 92% of NHS England GP surgeries – it takes seconds to check to see if your practice is supported via the app.

Q: I don't pay for prescriptions, so can I still use Echo?
A. Yes. When you order simply select an exemption reason and we'll do the rest.

Q. Can I use any pharmacy?
A. No. We only work with a select number of community pharmacies based in South East England but they can ship medication anywhere in the UK, from Surrey to the Shetlands!

Q: I have a pre-payment certificate; can I still use Echo?
A. Yes. When you order, upload your details and you won't be charged.

Q: How long does it take to get my medication to me?
A. Once you place an order we’ll send it to your GP. Some surgeries work much faster than others, but we generally get prescriptions back between 2 and 3 working days. If you’ve chosen free postage, we’ll then send you your medication via Royal Mail’s 48 hour delivery service..

Q: Can I order prescriptions on behalf of my children or my elderly parents?
A. No, right now you can only use Echo to manage your own prescriptions – but a family version of the app is in the works.

Q: How do I know that this is a legitimate service?
A. Echo is registered with the UK’s Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). You can check our registration here: https://medicine-seller-register.mhra.gov.uk/search-registry/284.

Q: Is my personal information safe?
A. Yes. All data is stored in our secure servers and transferred using SSL technology. Echo operates under the Caldicott principles for handling NHS patient information – and we will NEVER share your data without your explicit consent. We only work with fully accredited, UK-based NHS community pharmacies.

Q: How does Echo make money?
A. We take a percentage of the profit made by our partner pharmacies. In return, they dispense a greater volume of prescriptions.

Q: What happens if I’m not in to receive my medication?
A. That shouldn’t be a problem, as most medications will arrive in letterbox-friendly packaging, delivered by Royal Mail with your normal post. We’ll let you know if your medications will be larger than that; for those we recommend choosing a work address for delivery.

Q: As my medication needs to be kept cold, do you offer insulated packaging?
A. Yes, we have special packaging that will keep your medication cold while on its way to you.
