EncPassChanger

EncPassChanger

Starting with Android 3.0, it is possible to encrypt the device filesystem so the data won't be accessible after boot until you enter encryption password. The bad thing is that this password is set to the screen lock PIN / password. So you either set a short password or PIN, that you can enter quickly each time you unlock your phone from sleep (but this provides weak encryption), or set a long password and have to type it 20-30 times during the day.
This application allows you to fix this stupid behavior. Using it you can set different passwords for device encryption and screen unlock.

NOTE: When you change screen lock password, it will replace device encryption password that was set using this app! No data will be lost, just remember about it :-)

Not working with Lollipop; authour's site gone Although I have trusted and used EncPassChanger for some years, on both Cyanogenmod and pure-Android systems, it no longer works with Lollipop: "Getting root rights Executing command /system/bin/vdc cryptfs cryptocomplete Reading reply..." ...and there it hangs. It used to be great, but needs some loving before being useful again. UPDATE: I found the app "Cryptfs Password" works for Lollipop, and is actively being developed (Feb25, 2015)
