FlightScale - Weight & Balance

FlightScale is a band new aircraft Weight and Balance graphing calculator for pilots! It is a native app that is designed with modern android paradigms for great performance and user experience.

FlightScale is designed to be “general purpose”; it will work for a wide variety of aircraft. You enter your own data from your POH, including the envelope limits, passengers, fuel, etc, and see the weight and center of gravity plot on the live graph! Even see how your CG changes as you burn fuel!

The template creator allows you to enter any number of weight/arm entries you want making it good for accommodating extra equipment and configurations, such as multiple fuel tanks, extra gear compartments, mounted equipment, etc.

Once you are done configuring your template, with a single button tap you can "Email a Report" of your plot and loading status off to yourself or someone else!

FlightScale is capable of plotting both the Weight vs. Arm graph as well as the Weight. vs. Moment/1000.

FlightScale now contains a Helicopter template! The helicopter template allows you to specify longitudinal and lateral arms for each entery, and your CG will be calculated for both axis. Currently, FlightScale will just plot your longitudinal axis, and the lateral plot will be coming soon.

FlightScale will allow you to use up to 12 limit points to create your envelope, and it will plot your full fuel weight/arm, landing fuel weight/arm, and empty fuel weight/arm in the envelope. If you need the limits to utilize more points or to function differently, please contact me through email and I will try to implement any enhancement that you need.

You can define a Max Ramp, Takeoff, and Landing weight.

You can define a "ramp burn" and a "trip burn" to simulate your fuel usage over your trip.

This application is built to be a stand-alone solution; it will be enhanced and updated but will NEVER require you to purchase “add-on” templates or features. Users of my other aviation solutions will confirm that I frequently bring new functionality to my software and updates are always free.

This app is based off of the Weight and Balance functionality of my iPad app for iOS, but has been designed from the ground up to perform well for android. More features will be brought over soon!

Very disappointing for helicopters No lateral CoG for heli's and unfriendly user interface. Not even close to the Apple versions which are leagues ahead, real shame.

Seems great. Useless for helicopters. I like it for airplanes. Doesn't have a lateral plot, only longitudinal plot. I'd love if the company had some pre-made aircraft and a way to export configuration. Painful if you upgrade your phone or tablet.

Need for helicopters - promised, not there Helicopter templates still BETA after 6 months+. No lateral envelope input & graph. Cannot enter negative weights (e. g. door removal). Noticed iOS version much further developed! Is this app abandoned now? If so it is a shame. It has promise... Wrote developer before this review, no answer.

Nice app, easy to use No problem running the app on the Nexus 7. Easy to set up. A quick note here for first time users. Once you've entered the data on a row position, click the banner once again to save the data. If you're like me, I entered the base weight of the 172 and the arm data for all the rows and then saved the data by clicking on the banner. What wasn't clear (to me anyway) was that when I went back to the entry tab to enter the weights for next flight, nothing changed until I figured out that I had to click the banner once again. Maybe a subtle improvement in the app would be to allow a user to enter the basic parameters for the aircraft, then move through the stations to enter the current flight weights to check the W/B envelope. Nice job, thanks!
