FreePoint UK

FreePoint UK

FreePoint is designed to help point a digital TV aerial for best Freeview reception using an Internet prediction site. A UK postcode, your device GPS or an entry from the Database of sites is used to download a star rated list of available stations. Use the club sites database to check reception predictions before you go and Save the results to MySites. When on site use the results to set the aerial vertical or horizontal and point it in the recommended direction, using a compass or MapView if you have an Internet connection. Finally re-tune the TV either on automatic or use a channel from the results list. Some of the club site books and websites have not been updated since digital conversion was completed and may not give the best recommendations for digital reception. FreePoint gives reception predictions and the correct channels for up to 3 TV transmitters in the area using the very latest available data from the Internet. An optional small subscription will provide subscribers with updates for the included database of CC and C&CC sites and popular motor home stopovers.

The 2014 version has a number of improvements including database search and additional views for results saved in MySites. My Location is more reliable with user prompts to control the use of GPS hardware. Screens have been improved for landscape mode with a tablet optimised version coming soon.

Indispensable for touring I really like the options to download both the CC & CCC clubs' main site locations and their 5 van sites. This, and the choice of transmitters shown on a map make this app a little gem.
