Gamesome Frontend

The Gamesome Frontend is the first emulation frontend for Android!
This app will keep your roms organized, all you have to do is put your roms in separate folders - one for each console - and Gamesome Frontend will do the magic for you! Gamesome will identify each game in your collection*, download its cover, title and some further information. Once the scan is complete, you can view your collection in two different ways: as a grid of boxarts or as a list, with a side panel containing game informations. You can even search a game through your collection by title.

What makes Gamesome great, is its capability to launch your games with your favorite emulator**! One unique and fancy interface will handle all your games!

Since version 1.05.1 the app is developed on a Nvidia Shield kindly offered by Nvidia USA itself, and future updates will enhance controller support!

*: The identification mechanism can identify most of the officially released games for each platform, no hacks.
**: Gamesome Frontend supports almost all emulators (check the list above).
***: The compatibility list might change, some emulators might be added, but also removed if they are no more compatible, I do not take any responsibility for this.

A really great way of collecting multiple emulators together under a very usable & neat looking front end. I mainly use Retroarch, which is great (get it) but will not win awards for usability or good looks. I have that and PPSSPP installed and now Gamesome Frontend acts as the interface for both. Very easy to configure (just set paths and remove the icons for emulators you don't use). Tip: I prefer the old round icons to the new set - you can change this is in the settings. Happy with the free version so I gladly paid the €2 to remove the (discreet) ad at the bottom.

Must have. This is a must have if you want a "Retro Machine". I absolutely love seeing my rom collection in library form like this. So easy to navigate with gamepad buttons too.

Issue One big issue. When selecting multitrack bin/cue psx files it always chooses (track 1) over the cue, making it impossible to play the game correctly. I hope you can fix this or give some way to edit this ourselves

Really good but..... Love this, I love the box art it downloads, but there's the issue. It doesn't find many items of cover art. It would be nice to have a facility to quickly search for missing covers from the servers.

This is simply amazing! I had no idea that a wonderful frontend existed for Android emulators. So glad that I found this! For me, no frontend could be complete without automatically downloading box covers. This app does it and it looks great. If there's a mistake, one could easily edit the game title and the box covers. I'm using this on my Nvidia TV Console and it looks and works great. My only recommendations are the following: 1) The Console selection needs to be fancier. Once, however, you are in the console section, it all looks really nice and fancy with the game covers. 2) PSX emulation is flaky. I'm using FPse and when I launch the game without the frontend, my games looks great with hardware acceleration and OpenGL. For some reason, when I launch it from Gamesome, the games look degraded. I can't also change the Video settings since it won't save it. The options for the Video settings is also different and has less features than FPse. 3) I can't get PPSSPP to automatically load up the games selected from Gamesome. It just loads up PPSSPP but not the selected games. I tried everything and can't make it work. Keep up the good work! 4.5 stars!
