Black Forest

Black Forest

Start by honing your blade or spell craft traversing the Black Forest, acquiring artifacts from abandoned temples and ruins. Then continue to the misty Crossbones Marsh and sprawling Atlock Ruins. Choose the cold steel Sword track using abilities to hide, track, and sprint, besides melee and missile skills. Or choose the dark Sorcery track, weaving energies for local and area attacks, and to summon and control a minion. New wilderness environs are created each play and new content is regularly added.

Sword Track - 'The forest through which you pass falls away abruptly to a torch lit trail. The chill air is heavy with a low mist and hints of the fetid order of the Crossbones Marsh some distance to the north. You move down the trail in effortless silence, without a twig snap to betray his presence. The night surrounds you, and a lost wind moans among the bare trees. Headstones poke out of the mist like tiny islands in a sea of murk as you enter a forgotten graveyard of the Black Forest. You hope to find precious artifacts lost among the ancient forest ruins and marsh wrecks beyond.. The forest has long been haunted by Jack of the Lantern, who endlessly wanders the ancient labyrinth of brush and trees, searching for a resting place. He lights his way with an ember given him by Donn, the dark one of the underworld, that never burns out. . . Shunning the dark arts, you learned early to glide through the deepest and most tangled thicket as noiselessly as a spider on a web, your catlike stride easily ate up great distances, and your keen senses allowed you to stalk enemies from signs on the rockiest surfaces. The brunt of your charge can stun your foe into submission, and you can go into a deadly berserk rage when pressed. With these skills and your naked broadsword, you approach a soft light below . . .'

Sorcery Track - '. . . You pause briefly, preparing your spells for what is to come . . . Through endless study of thick tomes in your youth, you mastered the rituals to weave elemental energies. Now you can twist and reshape reality to summon minions and call terrible forces to serve your purpose, allowing you to avoid raw hand-to-hand combat. With these arts ready to call on at will, you approach a soft light below . . .'
