Hmong Translator

*** SPEECH SERVER UP AND RUNNING! - AS OF FEB 26th 2013 ***
*** MANY THANKS TO MICROSOFT BING FOR INCREASING MY DATA LIMIT ***

This is an English to spoken Hmong translator. You may search for a Hmong phrase by either speaking English into your phone by using the "Speak" button or by typing in your search from the menu. Your results will be displayed line-by-line.
TOUCH ANY HMONG WORD OR PHRASE TO HEAR THE TRANSLATION.

My hope is that non-Hmong speakers can use this application to help them learn Hmong as well as Hmong speakers who want to learn the written language.

Note: This app only INPUTS English and OUTPUTS Hmong. If you try to talk in Hmong it will not understand you. Also, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOGLE VOICE SEARCH INSTALLED. Search for it in the market or go here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.voicesearch&hl=en

Please leave feedback with suggestions on improvements.

YOU CAN NOT SPEAK HMONG AND GET AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION HOWEVER YOU CAN TYPE HMONG AND GET AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION

UPDATE VERSION 10: This is a mandatory update as BING has made changes to the way developers must access their database.

Also, please remember that if you would like to help this app generate better translations you can visit http://go2fresnostate.com/hmongtranslator/?page_id=782

You DO NOT need to know any programming to help the project. You just need to know how to read and write in both English and Hmong.

This app is great, it's definitely a great way to learn Hmong! Or to double check your spelling, I would recommend the app to have more options of word.

Not working at the moment Not sure it isn't working at the moment. Possible server issue? But when it does work it's actually pretty decent. Great work! ***UPDATE: 3/23/2015*** Thanks, Joel. It's working now. But Note Edge doesn't have the type option only the speak option. ***UPDATE: 4/3/2015***Type option works now too. Thanks!

I'm thankful for the app. Learning to read/spell was the easy part for me, but I always forget the meaning of some Hmong words, so this helps! It is good, most of the time it's been accurate, but I always verify it's correct with my husband when I go beyond simple word translation - only to be on the safe side. :) Thanks!
