Home Remote Control


Ubuntu/Mint/Gentoo/Whatever/Linux Remote Control

Simply a SSH Server is needed:
sudo apt-get install openssh-server

Features
- full keyboard
- mouse/touchpad
- list files on filesystem
- rename, delete and upload files on your filesystem
- add custom shortcuts
- add shortcut groups
- choose between different themes
- Wake on Lan widget
- export/import device
- scan network for devices


Functions
- control media player play/stop/prev/next
- control audio volume
- take screenshot of screen or webcam and send it to your mobile device
- shutdown
- restart
- lock/unlock screen
- send keyboard input


For some commands you need to have xdotool installed.

Wake On Lan
1. sudo apt-get install ethtool
2. sudo ethtool -s eth0 wol g
3. insert the following two lines into the autostart script(/etc/rc.local)
sleep 5
ethtool -s eth0 wol g
4. open /etc/init.d/halt and set NETDOWN=no
5. check and activate Wake On Lan and/or Wake on PCI(E) your mainboard bios

Private key login
Step 1
> ssh-keygen -t rsa
To ensure safety enter a passphrase.

Step 2
Then, paste the content of the public key ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub into the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file on the remote host.
> cat id_rsa.pub >> .ssh/authorized_keys

Step 3
Copy the private key ~/.ssh/id_rsa to your Android phone and load the file from the 'Add Device' screen.

Great idea, if all the features worked The mouse and keyboard wouldn't work for me. So I thought maybe if I bought the supported version everything would work. But no... VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Improved a lot. Got better on the one hand. On the other there are more ads than I should tolerate. Fortunately it's not a program I use much.
