The Honey Island Shooting Range is a popular site among sportsmen, with a yearly gate count of around 15,000 visitors.
Range hours are Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday.
The range has a 100-yard rifle range, 25-yard pistol range, and a trap thrower for those who bring their own clay birds. The range has a metal gong for each rifle firing position, which is located 100 yards from the firing position.
Also, there are two falling plate racks, six plates per rack, on the pistol range, and .22 long rifle spinners and falling plates on the rifle range.
The Range is managed by Southeast Louisiana Firearm Safety, Inc. SELFS maintains a team of professionally trained volunteers who work on the range as attendants and instructors. The app is designed provide useful facilities to both the visiting public who would like to have real-time current information at hand about the range and its facilities, and to the volunteer range and safety officers, who would like to be able to schedule and maintain their monthly work hours as attendants on the range.
