IDEAL Equation Finder, a speech recognition-based application, was designed to take advantage of EqsQuest’s semantic search technology for math & science.

Semantic search technology seeks to improve search accuracy by understanding a searcher’s intent and the contextual meaning of terms as they appear in searchable data spaces.

LaTeX Code can be used as search strings. For example:

Query: \sin ^2 \theta + \cos ^2 \theta = 1
(Pythagorean Property - Sine and Cosine)

or something far more complex such as:

Query: \cos (\omega _o n + \theta )u(n) \Leftrightarrow \frac{{z[z\cos \theta - \cos (\omega _o - \theta )]}}{{\left( {z^2 - 2z\cos \omega _o + 1} \right)}},\left| z \right| > 1
(Z-transform involving the unit step function and cosine)

Queries are not limited to math. For example, entering the search term “Fourier transform” yielded 2,253 hits.

In addition, results can be refined to the following categories:

* Encyclopedia
* Forums
* Online Books
* Lecture and Practice
* Dictionary
* Videos
