Kids Measurement Science Lite

Kids Measurement Science Lite

Young scientists learn to analyse the physical world by measuring across a variety of domains - time, size, weight and money. 5-8 year old kids measure length, weight, time and money in this science app using a tape, a scale, a clock and coins in 20 exercises. Full version has 300+ exercises of increasing difficulty.

Lite version has 5 exercises of each game -

* Length
Measure length and width of pencils, ribbons, balls and bookmarks - whole, halves and quarters.

* Time
Show time on an analog and digital clock in hours, half-hours, quarter-hours and 5 minutes.

* Money
Measure weights of watermelons, bottles, balls, boxes and many more.

* Weight
Pay for drinks, purses, fruits and many more using the coins.

These exercises help kids practice their scientific concepts in a practical way using made-up units of measurement. The mathematical concepts practiced include fractions, count-by-fives, addition by tens and hundreds, total using 25s, 10s, 5s and 1s. Some of the exercises can be solved in more than one way. Kids experiment with solutions as they play.

List of Common Core Phonics Topics covered in Measurement Science for Kindergarten to Second Grade.

Kindergarten Topics Covered -
CCSS.Math.Content.K.MD.A.1 Describe measurable attributes of objects, such as length or weight. Describe several measurable attributes of a single object.

First Grade Topics Covered -
CCSS.Math.Content.1.MD.A.2 Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps. Limit to contexts where the object being measured is spanned by a whole number of length units with no gaps or overlaps.

CCSS.Math.Content.1.MD.B.3 Tell and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks.

Second Grade Topics Covered -
CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.A.1 Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, and measuring tapes.

CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.C.7 Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.
CCSS.Math.Content.2.MD.C.8 Solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately. Example: If you have 2 dimes and 3 pennies, how many cents do you have?

Recent changes:
3.0 Narrator changed. Weights exercise answers show only after the scales are balanced.
