User reviews of komoot
It has potential BUT, I find ridiculus the fact that it asks to PAY per region (eg Tuebingen 4 euros, Stuttgart 9 euros etc) when it's based on free maps. I would gladly pay a one time payment but not this. How big is my "Home Region"? From what I've seen it's pretty small. And what would happen if I crossed a region border while on a tour? I'd be in the middle of nowhere and the app would ask me 5 or 8 or 10 euros in order to access the next map?! In-App payment aside, right now it's also not very usable. I couldn't get it to work on landscape mode or to hide the elevation profile. That leaves very little space for the map on my x10 mini. I also couldn't get any pictures or extra information to load. I did not find any "profile and detailed information", only the route and a profile with only the first, last and middle points. I haven't tried it yet on an actual ride but I can't believe it would be very useful as it is now. Maybe I'm too harsh as this is a new app and has the potential to be great but I think the usability problems should be adressed. On the positive side, the website is superb and looks like it will soon be very usable. Overall, I'd rate it positive but with room to improve

Horrible interface Cluttered and dated interface. Purple markers everywhere. Much better outdoors mapping options out there.

Good for walking/cycling trips on vacations This is a very nice app for planning walking or cycling trips while on vacation, or else in unknown areas, because all trips are made between touristic attractions. Some minor negatives: - Only one "region" is for free. A region is bigger than a city, but smaller than a state in most countries. Can get quite costly, since the app is mostly interesting for exploring unknown areas. - Round trips are often just going back over the same roads, back and forth between interesting spots on either side of your starting point. It's rare you get a real round-trip. - Not so interesting in the area where you're living, because you don't want to walk back and forth between touristic places. (Which are often the busiest places.) - International (i.e. non-German) users get imperial units by default. This can be changed through the app settings though. - The app settings are difficult to find, hidden behind the user profile. (Not standard Android behavior.)
