Length Fraction Calculator

Length Fraction Calculator

Given either inches or millimeters, calculates the closest inches in fraction form, round up or down.

Why? Well have you ever been at the store and your project needs a 10mm bolt but you can't find it in metric. Take out Length Fraction Calculator type in 10mm and you find that you either need a 3/8" bolt if you want to go smaller or a 7/16" bolt if you need the next size up.

Also great if you have a digital caliper and it gives you numbers like 3.2423".

Useful, but could be even better The fractions are too fine grain to be useful for buying bolts at a hardware store. Instead seeing a choice between 113/128" or 57/64", aselectable scale of 1/32", 1/16" or 1/8" or 1/4" or 1/2" would be more useful. I wish if I slid my finger on the metric side the ruler would snap in 1mm increments. I wish if I slide on the Imperial side the ruler would snap in 1/32" increments. The app does not have an option to calibrate the to the screen resolution, so the "1 inch" virtual ruler displayed on my screen takes 2.25 inches of screen space. However, the always on "zoom" mode is sometimes useful.

Snap! Should really be able to snap to your minimum unit. That would make it much easier to use and useful.
