Lightwaver for LightwaveRF

Lightwaver for LightwaveRF

This is a 7 day trial version. You can upgrade within the app to unlock full functionality.

See Google Plus page at http://goo.gl/QWfRN for more information and for some handy hints and tips that have been posted on the G+ Community page.

I do not look at bug reports submitted by the Android system. They are useless. If you need help, please get in touch directly.

Lightwaver allows you to control your LightwaveRF Home Automation products.
http://www.lightwaverf.com

These are the same products as sold by B&Q but repackaged as Siemens
http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/electrical/room-control

You will need:
At least one socket, switch or dimmer.
The LightwaveRF WiFi link hardware.

The hardware needs to be set up correctly. I cannot help you with this but it is not difficult and full instructions come with the hardware. Once set up, it works in the exact same way as the dedicated remote controls. Simply treat the app as a remote control and pair your hardware devices with the software devices in the app.

Alternatively, if you exactly match the rooms & devices in the same order as in the LightwaveRF manager on the web, then there is no need to pair any device, it will work right away (assuming the official app already works)

This app does not use the LightwaveRF portal unless you are away from home. It communicates directly with your WiFilink so is much faster.

The app allows for multiple locations to be set up. Handy if you have a holiday home. To use the app when away from home you should add your email address of your account on the LightwaveRF portal and the MAC address from the underside of your WiFi link box to the location settings. If you are connected to the SSID in the settings then the command is routed locally. If not, the command is routed via the LightwaveRF portal.

Each location can have multiple rooms and each room can contain multiple devices (currently only sockets and dimmer switches but if feedback is encouraging, I will extend the apps functions). Please get in touch with any questions.

*Why would I use this instead of the official app*
- Multiple locations.
- SSID detection for routing commands.
- Built in Tasker plugin.
- Voice control.
- Android Wear support
- NFC Task Launcher compatibility
- Homescreen and lock screen widgets
- Designed to be pure Android
- Fully customisable icons
- To support a home developer.
- Backup data to Google Drive
- Good developer support.

LightwaveRF have not released their heating API to 3rd party developers so there is no way to incorporate heating function. Please complain about that one to them not me. It is out of my hands.

Better than official app I really want to use this app but untill the heating has been added I have to stick with the official app. I will be back when this is added!

"Trial" mode is useless If, like me, you already have a number of devices in your home, you have to set them all up again in this app. You can only download saved settings from the server with the full app. So unless you want to pay for something which might turn out to be rubbish don't bother with this. How hard would it have been to give time limited access to the full app?

How do it I sync the lights and switches to my phone? If this gets answered and I can find out how I will rate 5 stars as I have seen other reviews and I am so excited to use this on my Android Wear smart watch along with voice commands!!! Please reply!

I don't normally leave App reviews But this is astounding, it's exactly what my LightwaveRF kit needed. Ditch the official Lightwave RF [cr]App and switch to this. Great work!

Great UI and developer support Best Lightwave app by a very long way. Only downside is the Lightwave server! App used to use router IP, offering a direct, more robust (though less secure) remote connection. Would welcome the reintroduction of this as an option alongside the existing cloud server interface. It is no more complex to set up than a webcam but developer could make it clear that this is only for advanced users. Developer responded to query in less than 24 hrs by sending an older version offering IP connection. Excellent.
