NOTE: Development on this app has been terminated, as maintaining it is a major task that we cannot carry on without recompense. There remain quite a number of unresolved issues, and some which we cannot but attribute to malfunction of the android UI framework itself (talk FragmentManager). We recommend choosing another UPnP app.
MediaSteersman is a UPnP (DLNA) Control Point that is specifically designed for Android Tablets.
With MediaSteersman, you can conveniently browse the contents of all UPnP/DLNA enabled media servers in your local network. You can inspect the media in a convenient manner directly on your lap, select it and direct it to be played on any UPnP/DLNA enabled playback device, like a modern network-enabled TV or HiFi device. MediaSteersman can handle an unlimited number of devices simultaneously, for example to allow you to control playback in all the rooms of your house from one place.
MediaSteersmans user interface is designed to exploit the advanced display capabilities of android tablets. It therefore requires a screen size of an least 7". You will hopefully find that using it adds a whole new fun dimension to your media consumption experience.
MediaSteersman is designed to make use of all available capabilities of UPnP enabled devices. Among all other features, it is targeted to provide an optimal playback experience even for high-end audio equipment, like gapless playback and support for high-resolution media.
MediaSteersman also allows you to create playlists from music albums, music tracks or photos. The number of playlists is unlimited, and they can carry their individual name and description, like for example "Bob's Birthday Party" or "Rock'n Roll Classics". Playback of photo playlists acts like a slideshow, with each picture displayed for a configurable amount of time.

We sincerely hope you enjoy MediaSteersman. Please take into consideration that the current version has just newly been released and may still need some time to grow up into a tool that can hold its own in every environment. There are a large number of UPnP/DLNA enabled devices out there, which often bend the standard in ways that are not easily foreseeable. We would appreciate if you would give us the opportunity to improve MediaSteersman by sending in bug reports, rather than voicing any frustration through bad ratings.. thanks.
