MessagEase is based on many years of scientific research; it uses letter frequency and di-gram data to optimize the position of letters and characters on a novel keyboard with fewer, larger buttons. (That’s why the letter positions are NON-QWERTY!)

This novel letter position is often very shocking--even intimidating--at first. But persevere and soon you'll find it intuitive and very practical.

MessagEase keyboard also includes word prediction. To keep the package light, the word lists required for word prediction is provided in separate modules that you download optionally. Please long press on Hand and then go to Settings > Languages & Keyboards > Word Prediction for how to set it up.

Please also note that you can change the keyboard size by dragging up/down on the Hand button. You can also reshape and recolor the keyboard in various ways. See Settings for details. You can also change the font used for the keyboard; you can even re-assign new characters or hide and remove some of the characters: yes, it is customizable like no other keyboard you've ever seen.

If you like MessagEase, please tell others about it, and please make sure to rate and comment about it on Google Play.

User reviews of MessagEase Keyboard
Long time fan of MessagEase from old Palm OS days. This Android version on Galaxy Note II seems quite sound. Yes, it does take a while to get used to. Yes, the included game greatly speeds that process and is fun in itself. I've been quite impressed by Swype and wondered if it would be better, but I think the balance tilts towards ME as the best input system for my use. 15 to 20 words per minute on general note-taking text is quite possible to achieve. I think the big issue is to consider what type of text you'll be writing. If your text is mostly common words and standard usage, then Swype's seemingly-stronger prediction may be ME's near equal. If you are working with a lot of acronyms, domain jargon, and frequently changing unusual words, then ME will almost certainly be better. I'd like to see the option to re-size the pad horizontally as well as vertically to further ease one-hand entry. I'd like more options for customizing the color scheme. I would like to have macros on the Android version. And, I'd be happy to see improved prediction. Still, from someone with quite a bit of study and training in ergonomics, this is one of the best solutions at the critical issue of rapid text entry that holds back many mobile applications. While voice recognition is very much improved, text entry is still far more accurate, and there are many times when I really don't feel like talking to myself just to jot down a few notes. Nicely done, ExIdeas.

layout options to minimize errors I have been using the keyboard for a year now but i am still having issue with accidentally hitting 'e' and 'home' instead of the space bar. An option to add padding below the space might fix this. Also, maybe having the option of changing the coloring of the main 9 keys into checkered will give the user better idea on where to tap or swipe without actualy looking directly on the keypad thus giving them ability to give more focus on what they are typing. Five stars if the space and 'e' issue is remedied.

Best keyboard I have ever used. It could have been perfect if it has Tagalog word list like other keyboard have.

Good, but was easier with stylus on PalmOS Has easier access to a lot of symbols and foreign characters than any other Android keyboard I know of. Gives me an easy way to move the cursor precisely. I can backspace over a whole word with one gesture. Sadly, fingers are just too to achieve the speed I got with MessageEase on Palm with a stylus. Styli for modern capacitive screens don't have that kind of precision either. I find myself hitting 'e' while trying to hit the spacebar, because I'm trying to avoid hitting the system buttons (especially Home and Close Keyboard icons); could you add a selecatable amount of padding below the keyboard? [Developer's original reply missed my request for an option to add padding between keyboard and system buttons, which would remedy the 'e'/spacebar problem. Being able to swap ABC and Backspace buttons would reduce accidentally confirming/sending a message or setting. As the developer's website and documentation from the PalmOS days indicate, small motions (and thus, small size) are critical to achieve maximum speed. Also lets you see more of the screen. (: I'd give four stars if I could keep small size and reduce the above metioned proximity problems.]
