Mil Rangefinder

Mil Rangefinder

This application displays a rangefinding reticle over a live camera preview. Mil readings from the reticle can be used with the included calculator. You can estimate the range to a target if the target’s width is known, or estimate a target’s width if its distance is known. Detailed instructions can be accessed from within the application.

You can pause the video preview or reposition the reticle to obtain a more accurate reading. This app also has support for first focal plane simulation, where the reticle adapts to the current digital zoom level. In addition to the standard mil-dot reticle, other reticle styles are available. Some designs feature stadiametric rangefinding.

This app will be most useful on a device that has powerful digital zoom. It can be used with an external telescopic lens attachment, requiring only a single recalibration. This application is not intended to be used as an optical firearm sight, and attempting to do so is not recommended.

Pretty cool!!! Actually learned some things, especially on how mil dot works. As another poster mentioned, I won't need to lay out a few hundred bucks for a range finder now. Does what I need it to do.

Excellent A1 After calibration it is really almost spot on +- 16 inches. Love this app. I would definitely recommend this to any one who wants to range things easy as pie.

Works great After calibrating the scale at 5 known distances and getting readings just a few inches off from what it actually measures I did a little math and now it's only off by a average of one inch. I'll see how this works at further distances and update the review but so far at 5-10 yards this app is close enough that I don't think I'll need to spend hundreds on a range finder for bow hunting.
