- Auto save and restore recent position for each track
- Manual bookmarks
- Separate buttons for ffwd./rewind witch configurable timespan
- Go to given position in track (time entry dialog)
- List of 10 most recent events for each track (where did you press play, stop, got interrupted by a call, activate the sleep timer, ...)
- List of started but unfinished tracks (in bookmark dialog)
- Playlist support: Reads m3u, m3u8, pls, and asx; writes m3u and m3u8; allows adding files outside of main directory; easy access to playlists in main folder and subdirectories
- Ignores .nomedia (you set the directory, should be fine - right?)

- Pause/continue on headset removal/plug and calls
- Sleep mode (stop playback, power off not allowed by Android system)
- Alarm clock
- Swipe gestures
- Selectable layouts (so far only default, car, and big cover) and themes
- Selectable backgrounds (theme color, own images, or wallpapers - even Live Wallpapers)
- Delete and send files
- Supports equalizer, bass boost, and reverb on devices with Android 2.3
- and some more, just check the preferences...

Used permissions:
Phone state: Used to pause during a call. Otherwise it would only be muted by the system.
Wake lock: So the playback isn't stopped when you turn off the screen. Also for some optional features like disabling the auto screen off during playback.
Disable keyguard: In case you only want to use the app's lock screen. (And not return to the default one afterwards.)
Write/delete external storage: For some internal files in \.MortPlayer, e.g. cached folder covers from ID3 tags and track order lists.
Internet: Ads (AdMob)
Boot completed: To reschedule the alarm clock after boot.
Tasks: For "StopService" activity, to avoid the system returns to player afterwards

User reviews of MortPlayer Audio Books
I love the app. It does almost everything I want except when I want to delete an audiobook. In order to delete an audiobook, I have to select and highlight each file (track) in the book and then hit the trash can icon to delete. Maybe I am missing something but there does not seem to be any option to delete a whole album with a single click or no way to do a select all. These would be handy options to have.

Very good app. I used it for 3 months and I am very pleased. But what happened to the pictures in 0.9.7 and 0.9.7a. Only a big ? (questionmark) where it should be. Has worked properly before.

This app does everything I need it to. Great for listening to Audiobooks.

Perhaps I am just stupid but I find the GUI to be cluttered and not intuitive. Worse there's very little support for the player. After many months of trying I have yet been able to scroll a track and the player starts at the beginning every time I start the player.

The bronze standard for audio books. Every feature I could want for audio books except volume boost to match the audio level of Google Navigation with Google enhanced TTS on Galaxy S5, making Mort unusable in the car if using Navigation. Was OK with my RAZR Maxx. No response to email to dev asking for solution suggestions. Installed Smart book reader, Uninstalled Mort player.

buggy on Galaxy S4/Android 4.2.x, and developer doesn't provide support I'm a very long time user of this app. Up until I started using it on my Galaxy S4 (Android 4.2.x), it worked flawlessly all the time. However on my S4, it randomly crashes while playing. I've emailed the developer a few times, and never received any reply. Seems like he's no longer providing support (the app hasn't been updated in over 2 years).

Great but needs an update Fantastic audio book player when I first used it about 3 years ago and really just as good now, really packing in good solid features and working so reliably. Only issue is a lack of updates since 2012, the interface and even widgets could use some refinement at this point and the ability to download covers wouldn't hurt.

Not playing full tracks Up till now it's been fab but in the last few days it's just been stopping halfway through tracks or not playing them at all.
