Music Mastery: Ear Training

Music Mastery: Ear Training

Music Mastery: Ear Training is an app designed for serious musicians who want to develop their ear. Being able to identify intervals and chords is key to translating the music in your head to your compositions or instrument of choice.

Much more than an audio flash card app, Music Mastery: Ear Training teaches you to identify the various sounds in the same way you learned to read sheet music. A few sounds at a time, with tests along the way to make sure you've got it right before moving on.

After you've learned the types of chords, scales, etc. you will be ready to try and pick them out by note name. Music Mastery has all of the chords, scales, and arpeggios in all 12 of the chromatic notes as well as 49 different pitches from C2 to C6. Some people never develop an ear good enough to differentiate sounds at that level, but with Music Mastery, it won't be because you weren't given the proper tool for the job.

Unlike simple flashcard style apps, Music Mastery allows you to click on an info button during the learning process to bring up information about the current sound. Wonder why there are no major and minor suspended chords? The app will tell you instead of leaving you to guess or seek the answer elsewhere. Wonder why the diminished triad sounds so dark? The app has you covered there as well.

Why wait to become the best musician you can be? This app has all the tools you need to take your compositions to the next level.

Good for a beginner I am trying to teach myself to recognize intervals, chords, and scales, and am having a hard time finding general music theory material that makes sense at my level. This app has been more instructive for me in this endeavor than the others I've tried (eartrainer3, perfect ear) because it offers some explanation and context beyond 'flash card' testing. Would recommend to absolute beginners.
