mySwitch


mySwitch is designed to provide the information you need to prepare for the digital television switchover in your area. By identifying your location, the app will provide a pinpoint summary of your predicted digital TV coverage and channels, your analog TV switchoff date, and recommendations for improving your television reception.

Whether digital television is delivered in your area by terrestrial transmitters or by satellite (courtesy of the VAST service) the app provides useful functions to diagnose and resolve reception issues.

Available Transmitters – contains all transmitter sites providing coverage to your location, the name of the selected transmitter site, distance, direction and predicted level of coverage.

Recommended antenna setup – provides pictures of the individual basic elements of a suitable antenna system at your location including the type and correct polarization of your antenna, amplifier and height of installation.

Satellite setup guide – provides a general guide in order to assist you to correctly position your satellite television reception equipment, including the recommended dish size for your location.

Disclaimer:
This combination of the transmitter site, direction and distance from your address and antenna system is intended to act as a guide for you to conduct a very preliminary visual check of your current equipment for its suitability for the current range of digital channels from the selected transmitter site.
An experienced antenna installer is best qualified to provide specific advice and assistance in receiving digital television at your location. It is not recommended that you climb onto your roof to examine or change your antenna system.

Basic antenna advice is provided through the Antenna setup guide on mySwitch however each viewer’s antenna system is individual and it is not possible for the mySwitch tool to represent all possible types that may exist in the area. For this reason the focus of this guide is to establish the basic type of antenna, its polarisation and any additional features of the system that may be required at your location.

The dish size listed is the minimum size that the Digital Switchover Taskforce recommends for reception of the VAST service at your location. In some situations a larger than recommended dish size will further improve the reliability of reception of the VAST service in adverse weather conditions.

Has some handy features. We had the retune in our area then lost a whole bunch of channels? !?!?. Using the antenna direction compass function I moved the direction of our antenna. ....problem solved, all channels firing!

Quite useful. Won't find a location, so avoid typing in your address. Do scroll the map to pinpoint your location. After that it works fine if not a tad obscure at times.

Excellent Does a great job at pinpointing the digital signal. Handy when travelling.
