Open Internet NL investigates whether often used applications such as internet telephony (SIP and Skype), Whatsapp (XMPP), Youtube, Bittorrent
and Spotify are being blocked or shaped by internet service providers.
Open.internet.nl was started by the Dutch Internet Society to promote the openness of the internet in the Netherlands.
The app tests for blocked ports and deep packet inspection. It simulates different protocols and checks for hidden modifications of packets that are exchanged between a central server and the app.
Thanks to the contributions of many, the now app supports Romanian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Catalan, Arabic, Hebrew, Indonesian, Malay, Japanese, English and Dutch.
