OpenKeychain

OpenKeychain

OpenKeychain helps you communicate more privately and securely. It uses high-quality modern encryption to ensure that your messages can be read only by the people you send them to, others can send you messages that only you can read, and these messages can be digitally signed so the people getting them are sure who sent them. OpenKeychain is based on the well established OpenPGP standard (also referred to as PGP, GPG, or GnuPG) making encryption compatible across your devices and operating systems.

Modern encryption is based on digital “keys”. OpenKeychain stores and manages your keys, and those of the people you communicate with, on your Android. It also helps you find others’ keys online, and interchange keys by touching devices. But its most frequent use is in using those keys to encrypt and decrypt messages.

OpenKeychain integrates with
• K-9 Mail
• Conversations
• and many more…

OpenKeychain is designed to be trustworthy. It’s Free Software with no secrets; anyone can examine and validate every bit of it.

Permissions:
• Full network access: To query keyservers
• Near Field Communication: To exchange keys via NFC; Yubikey NEO support
• Storage: To import/export keys from sd card
• Identity/Contact: To pre-fill name, email, and search queries; integration with Android's contacts
• Camera: To scan QR Codes for adding keys

Because OpenKeychain is Free Software, anyone can validate that the permissions are indeed only required for the listed features.

Wow I didn't even know that PGP works over NFC in Yubikey Neo. A must have!

Bill L After the most recent upgrade, it crashes when I try to run it. That's on Android 4.3. Cloned the project tree from GitHub, built without severe errors in Android Studio (latest), but don't know where to go from there. Need more experience with Android Studio and Java. Can someone help? I've submitted crash report from my phone (Samsung Galaxy SIII (S3), ATT style). Sufficiently Secure: I don't understand your reply, a single "-". Please clarify.

Great App I have a FC on my Yubikey+keychain configuration only when signing but not decrypting. I have a keychain with 4k RSA encryption and signing keys together with their 2k counter parts on my Yubikey. I have manually stripped the 4k keys using the App and I see the other two as being "directed to NFC." When I try to send a signed message with K9Mail, however, I have an FC. Already filed a report thru the FC dialog.

Mind blown I remember one i tried to use apg but was really annoying. This one is awesome and works almost perfect! ! I found a few bugs, will see if they are fixed in this latest update. Still, it's perfectly usable, must have! !
