A simple but highly addictive game for your spare time, free of charge, ads and Android-permissions.
Orbs employs the match-3 concept known originally from "Bejeweled", which has been adopted countless times in games like "Jewels", "Diamond Dash" and recently "Candy Crush". In Orbs, however, you do not swap the items (called orbs), but simply tap on groups of connected orbs of the same kind. You will reach new levels, discover new Orb types, and some powerful special orbs.
The game is designed for ease of access and simplicity. It is well suited for all ages and education backgrounds. It also features some strategic elements as well as achievements that will be hard to achieve without playing strategically from time to time. Settings highscores can be a matter of strategy as well, but also depends on skill and a bit of luck.
How to play:
Tap on groups of at least 3 orbs to remove them, gain points and reach higher levels. With each level, a new kind of Orb will appear and make things more difficult. But luckily, there are some powerful special Orbs to help you out. The game also features an inventory for bomb Orbs: Pop 10 or more Orbs at once to earn a bomb, then place it anywhere you like. This allows for sophisticated, strategic play.
In the second game mode, Quick Game, you play against the clock. the game is over if you do not make a move every few seconds, which limits the time a game takes. As opposed to the first game mode, this mode is focused on fun rather than strategy.
Upcoming: A global leaderboard is planned, so you can compare your highscores to people from all around the world, including your friends and family. Maybe a Facebook connect.

Orbs is about fun, not profit. Many games out there may be fun to play, but only very few of them are ad-free, free of charge, free of in-app-purchases or work without Android permissions that make them non-free in some other way, like collecting private data of the users for commercial purposes. Orbs, however, is free in all regards. My primary goal is to make a game that is fun to play for as many people as possible. That is why I chose not to annoy my users with any burden, but instead try to reach different kinds of players (like strategic, casual, pro and not-so-pro gamers) through different game elements and ease of use.
Orbs supports all screen sizes from smallest (240x320) to biggest (1920x1080) and even beyond that. It has been optimized to run fluently on single-core devices, uses as little memory as possible and does not waste your battery lifetime. Improvements in this regard are part of many updates. Speaking of which: Updates appear regurlarly. I add new features to the game, like new kinds of Orbs, Power ups and graphics. A global leaderboard will be added in the future, so you can compare yourself to users around the globe. By now, I can say that the highest score known to me is 28083.
This game was insprired by the many addictive titles out there where you must match a number of balls, fruits, candy, jewels, diamonds or others. Some also invent own names such as gems or, in my case, orbs. The concept varies little. So, be it fruits or candy or diamonds, there are always different types that you must match. Few games feature power-ups or combos, very little also have achievements to unlock. Since Orbs focuses on fun and strategy, i chose to have power-ups and achievements as well as leaderboards in the game. I think these are best to make a game that lots of people can enjoy. Friends and family members have asked me to add a Facebook integration so friends can share their achievement and highscore information. If I receive such requests from the community, I will add a Facebook connection feature. But I think it wouldn't be that fun for most people, especially those not on Facebook :)
