Owner Info Widget

Owner Info Widget

NOTE: The widget does not work on built-in Android lock screen until Android 4.2.

With Owner Info widget you offer the person who finds the lost phone an easy way to return it to you.

Another important use is to inform people how they can help you if you appear in unconscious state due to disease or accident. You can include basic medical and treatment information to the scope of information that you provide to other people.

Owner Info widget resembles Owner Information item of Today screen in Windows Mobile, and provides additional functionality, such as possibility to take certain actions.

You specify owner information by tapping on the widget after you add it for the first time. After that configuration dialog can be opened via application list (Set Owner Information).

Tap on widget text opens Details window with detailed information and action buttons (Call phone, Send SMS, Send e-mail).
Tap on widget button executes default action (you choose the action in Settings).

The widget does not work on default Android lock screen. If you use a pin-protected lock screen, use Widget Locker application or alternatives to have widgets on the lock screen.

If the widget doesn't work for you, visit the homepage to submit an issue report instead of leaving comments (which are useless in solving problems).

Required permissions are needed to place a direct call or send SMS when the device is locked (and the widget is invoked from WidgetLocker).

User reviews of Owner Info Widget
Provides for thorough and easy notification of the owner if the phone is found. Is also a widget, therefore taking less power than an actual app.

I like the concept, however is there a way to get it onto the default HTC Evo SenseUI screen when the phone is locked? Otherwise it's kind of useless since they'd have to be IN your phone to even see this. Here's another problem. I just purchased Widget Locker (awesome!) Putting this widget on the lock screen works great, however if the person tries to 'call' or 'email' then they are greeted with my pattern lock. GRRR. That alone sucks, but at the very least, the widget should SHOW THE EMAIL and PHONE NUMBER on the widget pop-up screen so the person could at least contact me via another phone/computer. Here's another problem I'm finding. If you POWER DOWN to change a battery for example, the app forgets it is a widget and the only way I've found to get it back to that state is to re-install. The icon shows up as an APP, but if you long press the desktop, you can't pick it as a widget anymore, it's just not an option. Hopefully the developer will fix this, as it kind of makes it useless if you travel. I discovered this after flying today and had powered down for the cross country flight. I verified this on the layover by re-installing. powered off. when landed again, same issue happened. :(

Always says Not Secified I entered the info. But if found, they would have to get to the settings to see it. Otherwise, they would tap it and only see ... Not Specified

Need to pay for another app If you put a lock on your phone, you need to buy an additional app for this to work. Too bad. When this app works with the screen lock without additional charge, I will re-download.
