Live TV

Live TV

Placeshift your Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 Media Center channels* in various possible qualities, without subscription costs.

That means for example that - if you receive your local station (e.g. sports event) at home on your Media Center - you can stream this live show to your android! Not confined by home or country!

Here's how to:
1. Setup your Remote Potato Server - it's a free download here: http://myfrem.net/download.html . This is absolutely required to run this app.
2. Test the connection out for free: make sure it works with the free Remote Media Center (RMC) app, downloadable from google play.
3. If you are satisfied with step 2: Get Remote Media Center Live TV - and try with SD channels at home in this app!

Also has the ability to download videos/recorded tv and live tv. And (beta:) transcoding on the server for later playback.

Notes:
* This version of RMC is ad free!
* RMC streams media which can consume lots of bandwidth especially WHEN using high quality settings - be sure you have a good data plan before you start using 3G and 4G connections to stream your video.
* Number of TV channels you can watch simultanuously is limited by the number of androids, free tuners and processing power you have!
* For best Live TV results, you need a fast android and fast PC server.
* DRM-protected content is not supported.
* See myfrem.nl/forum of http://159.253.0.177/forum for discussion and FAQ.
* On google TV you can use ES File manager as a player.
* Do not use while driving or other activities that might become dangerous.
* Be aware that live TV makes use of (temporary) recordings that show up in "Recorded TV'.

Chromecast works again Shortly after my last review where the chromecast wasn't working I downloaded the newest version of the chromecast app 1.9.6 which isn't in the market yet and tried streaming once more. It actually worked straight to the chromecast. I'm not sure what the problem was before but I am pleased!

Refund? Does not work. I setup a server, completely disabled firewalls, and setup port forwarding. Tested, and port forwarding was definitely working. But remote potato will not connect. Got it to work over lan, but if I am at home, I can just watch tv the old fashioned way. Waste of money. Port forwarding is setup correctly. Using latest verson of app and server. I would expect this hassle if it was free, but generally if you spend money on something, you expect it to work. Garbage!!!

LiveTv streaming from Windows media centar! It works good, lots of options, great quality streaming on my tablet. The quality is actually much better than on tv to go from my local internet provider. Only downside is that it takes some time to configure everything to work, but instructions are easy to follow so with basic IT knowledge everyone should be able to do it. Great work!

Works great...until it doesn't. Used to work fine, but hasn't worked for months now. Developers usually are very responsive, but lately have not been responding to help requests. 1: Live TV streams for about a minute and then quits. 2: Error message on reconnecting "Fill in server and port settings" (already filled in). Okay for a free app but too many problems. If you want something simple and reliable, then ante up and go with Plex for recorded media and Tablo for live tv streaming.

Cannot see my recorded shows Log onto Remote Potato just fine. I can watch live tv (well, until it freezes up like for most other guys). But the problem is, my recorded shows does not show up. They are there, I can watch them on my Wmc of fine c but does not show up on RMC. List of recordings are empty. Ideas?
