Scholastic Reading Timer

Scholastic Reading Timer

Becoming a good reader requires practice, just like learning to play a sport or an instrument. The Scholastic Reading Timer app promotes reading practice by encouraging reading every day and most importantly, makes it fun! Use the Scholastic Reading Timer in two ways: in conjunction with the Scholastic Summer Challenge, where kids are given weekly reading goals and log their reading minutes to win virtual rewards, or as a fun and functional reading timer throughout the year. Either way, the power of reading is in the palm of their hands.

FEATURES
TIME AND LOG READING MINUTES WITH AN INTERACTIVE STOPWATCH
This feature operates just like a real stopwatch, so kids can start/stop, pause to take a break, and watch their reading minutes add up! Once they’re finished reading for the day, they can enter their minutes into a personal weekly log. Parents can track kids' daily reading activity and see how many total minutes they have logged.

BOOST MOTIVATION TO KEEP KIDS READING WHILE SCHOOL IS OUT
During the summer months (May 6 to September 6), the Scholastic Reading Timer app will be tied into the Scholastic Summer Challenge, where kids can win virtual rewards when they log their reading minutes. Once they have reached their reading goal for the week, kids who are registered for the Scholastic Summer Challenge can spin the wheel of prizes. Prizes include downloadable virtual badges of beloved storybook characters like Captain Underpants and Geronimo Stilton! Kids can download their virtual badges and store them in their personal prize center.

HELP SCHOOLS BREAK THE READ FOR THE WORLD RECORD
If kids are registered for the Scholastic Summer Challenge, their reading minutes count toward the total minutes read for their school. Kids can browse school rankings to see which schools have logged the most minutes right on their mobile device. As part of the Scholastic Summer Challenge, schools are helping to Read for the World Record and break last year’s record of 95,859,491 total minutes read! The 20 schools that log the most minutes will be recognized in the 2014 Scholastic Book of World Records and will receive a congratulatory plaque. Plus, the school with the most minutes read will win a school visit from Captain Underpants creator Dav Pilkey!

Scholastic Reading Timer Kids can set the length of time they are reading and log their times daily. It only allows one log entry per day. Parents/teachers can view all entries, get recommended reading activities, and book lists. It would be nice if the time was recorded automatically into the log. The child has to enter it after the timer goes off, I can see a few reluctant readers exaggerate a bit...

Only good for 1 kid at a time I have at least 4 kids that all read at different times, but they also read at the same time or overlapping times. This only allows one kid to track their reading at a time. I really liked it up until i found that out. Disappointing.

Won't Load Account I tried this app again and it won't connect to my kids accounts it just keeps loading and then I can't even exit. I hope this gets fixed because it would make logging our minutes for summer reading so much easier.
