Moving app to the SD card disables widgets. Android does not support widgets from SD card. Moving hides shortcut icons too on reboot.

Export/Import are not Backup/Restore. When you export a note/checklist, its text content is saved as .txt file 'without' meta data like color, priority, folder, etc.

User reviews of Simple Notepad
v1.7.6c: Search does not work properly for Russian text (it is case sensitive). No proper backup/restore support (except for the “experimental” simplenotepad.zip import option). Setting reminder at arbitrary date/time is broken at least for the Russian locale (apparently the 24-hour time format is not handled properly), and does not work correctly for some screen sizes (when date and time pickers do not fit in the popup and require scrolling).

Until Denote appears in the "share" menu I stick to this one.

Ok I'll sort of forgive the export stuff. Having it do it automatically and having the stuff archived sort takes care of my data pretty well I think. Still wish the folder structure was there though. But still: You really need to take the word simple out of the name of this thing. ... ... ... And I really don't like the idea that I get Dropbox whether I want it or not. .... .... Ohhh! Look... this "exporting" stuff instead of just saving my files as regular old files that I can be confident aren't going to disappear because they're metadata inside your program... that just don't get it dude... that really doesn't. Gonna lose a second star for that. .... .... Hmmmmm... easy to "save as" to Dropbox... not easy to local storage at a random location. ... I'm afraid we hit a snag that you will have to lose a star for. You have folders that the notes are organized into, but this is not reflected in the file structure where the data is saved. If you're going to add such functionality it needs to make sense. Only having the organization show up inside the application doesn't make sense. .... .... Allrightie then. Actually not so simple. Has lots of stuff that I don't strictly need. But its not crudd... it's useful stuff. Don't know if I'll actually use it. The major point is... this actually works. I can find my data, I can give it the name I want, Android will associate the app with text files, doesn't want every permission in the book . I don't understand why this is so hard for other people to get right. I think I've looked at at least a dozen notepads and I finally found something to make me stop looking. As to it being not flashy... well... there are too many programs out there that worry about flashy and don't worry about getting the job done. To me those are losers. This one's a winner. ( I am puzzled with the fascination over widgets, however. Good short cuts are actually much more useful. And we certainly don't need a dozen different choices of widget size... I mean they are resizable.) If you are going to have lots of functionality it needs to be exposed without having to go through lots of clicking. Oh, so I can make a shortcut to specific folders. But.. It doesn't look like I can make make a shortcut to All Notes folder... And a new note by default goes into All Notes... which takes multiple clicks to get to. ... Oh! There's the shortcut to specific notes... sort of buried... Gotta be reading it... after having saved it and reopened it. (That's a bit clumsy.) ... But really this is all minor. This thing gets the job done much better than a dozen others I've looked at. Still gets my recommendation.
