SmoothSync for Cloud Contacts

SmoothSync for Cloud Contacts

SmoothSync for Cloud Contacts syncs your iCloud contacts. Due to its implementation as sync adapter it integrates seamlessly with the native contacts app and operates invisible in the background.
This app is bundled with Contact Editor Pro to allow you to edit synced contacts on pre-Android 4 devices.

Also, check out SmoothSync for Cloud Calendar to sync your iCloud calendars!

Samsung S5 users: Please note that some S5 devices come with a broken contacts app that crashes when opening a contact synced by this app. Please report any crashes to Samsung.

Important note for Android 4.1 and Samsung users: To prevent the removal of your accounts on reboot install this app (before you install SmoothSync):

As of Android 4.2 this issue is fixed and the workaround no longer necessary (except for Samsung devices), please uninstall it.

The app is designed to be as user friendly as possible. Just enter your account data and SmoothSync will keep your contacts in sync.

The app will not sync Contacts from other accounts (like Google) to iCloud!

Please, if you find a bug send me an email. Without detailed error description I often can't do anything especially when I can't reproduce it.

Important! If your phone removes the accounts on reboot, move the App back from SD card to the phone. Some phones (if not all) can't handle sync adapters on SD Card properly. Also check if you need the workaround app mentioned above.

Thanks to the guys at http://www.busymac.com/ for their support!!

Like the product, don't like the absence of a clear account of how it works I'm using SmoothSync with appreciation for its "smooth" operation and the fact that it syncs at all. But I'm having a dickens of a time understanding how it works -- Android + iCloud + Galaxy S3 -- and that is affecting how I use it: with my teeth clenched in terror that something is going to go wrong. I've spent literally days' worth of time trying to get it all right. But I have no idea how the Contacts on my two Macs relate with my Samsung G S3, where contact information resides, and even how to remove duplicates without reverting to working on my desktop Contacts/AddressBook and disconnecting iCloud. All these variations make it difficult to comprehend how to improve the functioning of SmoothSync or my sync'ed contacts and other items. Throw into the pot recurring "Android.process.acore has stopped warnings" that prevent my working with these applications, and you have a real mess. It's not the developer's fault, the fault lies with Samsung and in my case, Verizon. Nevertheless, if I can't use an app without a second thought, then maybe I should never have given it a first thought. I like SS enough, just wish that there were instructions and a data flow chart.

Update Updated my rating after I finally realized why my contacts weren't syncing. Whenever I would add a new contact it would save it to You Mail contacts instead of the SmoothSync contacts. After changing that setting when editing those contacts it now works perfectly. If you use both Android and Apple products, you NEED this app (and the calendar app), unless you don't care about syncing or would rather manually do it.
