SomaFM Radio Player

SomaFM's official player for Android, giving you direct access to 20 year-round (plus seasonal holiday) channels of listener-supported, commercial-free, underground/alternative radio. By buying this app, you support SomaFM's commercial-free broadcasts.

You can view and pick stations by Popularity, Genre or just see your favorites; See the title and artist of the currently playing and last 10 songs played. You can also bookmark favorite songs for purchase on Amazon or emailing to your friends. You can share what you're listening to on Twitter, via email or text message.

There's also a section for SomaFM news and happenings.

If you're on 3G or WiFi, you have access to our high quality 128k MP3 streams or 64k AAC-HE streams which sound amazing. And our low bandwidth 32k aacPlus streams work on slower cell networks, and still sound as good as 128k MP3 streams in most cases.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your phone doesn't play our streams, go into the menu settings and change the "AAC" mode setting.

Recent changes:
Version 2.2.3 adds support for Qualcomm® AllPlay™ enabled wireless speakers; adds a fix that would cause the app to still use data while playing was stopped. Minor bug fixes and enhancements.

Version 2.2.2 fixes streaming issues with Kitkat and certain phones, and other minor bug fixes.

Version 2.2.1 fixes an Android bug which keeps the streams from working properly on cellular networks. Also, includes UI improvements. (Updated 1-Feb-2013)

Big Al sent me Ever since the day I was served my first chilled plate of ambient beats and grooves (early 2000), I've been hooked. Keep up the internet free badassitude, SomaFM, we love you.

Great Way to Support SomaFM It's not the best app in the world, but it does the job. I totally understand SomaFM might not have all the funds they need to create the best app possible so I think they have done a good job with what they have; you don't really need a bunch of bells and whistles just to listen to great music! That said, it would be great if the app could connect to Chromecast. Don't know what that would entail funding-wise, but I do catch myself listening to more Pandora these days simply because of the convenience factor of my Chromecast.

Soma fm is great, but the app is OK. The app needs some fine tuning, like auto pause, ability to remove one song from favorite instead of just all, ability to control via blue tooth headphone.
