Stuck I know where the bridge is. I know where the half built cottage is. I have the axe and now I'm carrying around a cut down Pine tree, but how do I use the tree

Colossal Cave set the standard One thing hindering this game from being ranked up there, is a slight non-adherence to this. Those original games utilized a 1-2 word system and had an extremely diverse vocabulary. Most standard commands and text combinations often failed, (throughout the entire game). Especially stumped in one spot, but once this conditional flag was finally cracked, no issues. Also, when dropped elsewhere, most items are still stated as being in their original location (ie. next to campfire).
