The Traveler

The Traveler

Created at Ball State University, Traveler is a trip journal and digital sketchbook, designed for anyone who travels and wants to capture the experience in one seamless package.

The app is available for Android phones and tablets running Android 4.0 or above, with additional capabilities included for the Samsung Galaxy Note device line‐up.

Traveler features the integration of captured photos, short videos, drawn sketches, recorded audio files, quick location markers, and GPS tracking into a package that allows the user to organize information and media in an efficient and travel‐friendly interface. With Google Maps built into the app, users can retrace their steps, noting the locations where photos and other media assets were collected and the path traveled along the way. For an immersive, virtual experience with contextual 3D buildings, the path can be "played" back in Google Earth on the device.

For Samsung Galaxy Note devices, Traveler includes support for the S Pen to provide a sketching and drawing canvas for digital sketchbook capabilities.

Features include:
* Capture photos, videos and audio on your trip and a marker will be added to the map where they were created;
* Record your path and replay using Google Earth;
* Send your paths to Google using Google Docs, Maps or Spreadsheets;
* Share media with friends and family using your favorite social media apps;
* Work offline to record your trips no matter where your travels take you;
* Start, pause or stop a new recording, or add a marker from Android Wear;
* Capture photos with Google Glass and share with your trip;
* Sketch and draw with a variety of brushes, tools and colors using the S Pen.

Ball State University students, faculty and staff can connect their university account for additional features, including:
* Ability to sync all content (trips, paths and media) to a server at the university for archival and transferring to other devices;
* Invite others to join a trip;
* Share photos and other media assets between travelers.

Guideline required, Restart Device, (1) Is there any video guide, unable to find in YouTube, trying to understand how to use the feature. (2) I'm using note3, somehow it automatically restart my device when I'm in the appd, twice after installed. (3) always stuck in the apps as non responsive while click on the ongoing trip.Would like to try further as still confused in using it. I guess this is a good apps since lonely planet recommending.

Only thing missing is functional merge feature If you want to record continuous path over many days, use pause, then start then pause and do not restart phone (lose battery juice). You can export data as well. First do backup and restore from The Trip app. Then connect to PC and access the backup folder that eis on your phobe from the PC. Thinking of playing soccer with phone on me and record my movement. Already jogged my neighborhood with app on. From an investment perspective, it fits will with GoPro.

Cool app! lots of potential Hope you open up the ability to invite others on a trip, otherwise it remains cool but not epic. Hope you also add some kind of online viewing ability so others can follow your travels or read about them afterwards. Could replace traditional trip blogging

Possible Addition I like the look, clean and simple. The app is quite easy to use. However, I'd like the option of changing the date of when photos were added. Or when the photo is added from the gallery, take the meta data (I think that is what you call it) from it so the photos can be added in the order they were taken. Also, maybe have the possibility to add more than one photo at the same time.

Manual path add? This is an awesome app, it should be rated #1 for travel apps of its kind! It's beautiful, simple, and does everything I need for capturing and sharing. One tiny thing though, I wish there was a way to manually add previous paths in a trip... I forgot to start the tracker onceor twice, and now I can't go back and add them :( other than that, it's perfect
