TRUCK GPS Navigation

TRUCK GPS Navigation

The Aponia TRUCK GPS NAVIGATION is a truck-specific navigation system designed to provide safe and reliable routing on truck-legal roads.

Truck drivers know that choosing the wrong route leads to wasted fuel, out-of-route kilometers, lost time and money and in some cases also safety issues.

Unlike standard car navigation systems, Aponia Truck GPS Navigation calculates efficient routes based on the vehicle profile information, routing parameters and load type, including hazardous materials.

The driver can choose a profile configuration based on length, height, width, weight, max. axle load, and whether he is carrying hazardous goods.

The maps are on-board, which means they are stored directly on the device for offline use. At the same time both the maps and the application can be easily updated free of charge.

Company Aponia Software Ltd. released a new version of the Aponia Truck GPS Navigation application designed especially for truck drivers. Together with the update of the application the company launched also the update of CEDA maps for Aponia Truck GPS Navigation.

The new version of the Aponia Truck GPS Navigation application brings several new functions:

▪ Modernized design of the user interface.
▪ Extension of the app’s resolution for use on other devices.
▪ Possibility of customizing the item and font sizes in the menu.
▪ Possibility of saving the app on a memory stick, once it is used with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
▪ Possibility of rating the application and thus supporting the development of new versions.

At the same time bugs, which might have caused problems in the previous version of the application, were fixed:

▪ It is possible to enter items from the Favorites list directly into the route via the Route Planner.
▪ If the navigation is missing necessary coordinates while launched via Intent (Android only), it automatically opens online search.
▪ Elimination of automatic and incorrect changes of signs in coordinates, once the app is launched via Intent (Android only).
▪ The application now chooses a skin according to the physical resolution of the display, which does not change. Beforehand the application used to be based on the resolution, in which it can render – in this case some users coped with problems while rotating the device, as the resolution was different, when the application was set for portrait, and when it was set for landscape.
▪ If the app doesn’t find a suitable skin for the resolution of the user’s device, it will try to use a skin, which is closest to this resolution.
▪ Users struggled with the activation of serial numbers, while having no connection to the internet. Also this bug is removed from the update.

Led me down wrong path I used this app to guide me while towing my 5th wheel. I entered all of the vehicle info and it took me to an underpass that was too low for my rv. Had to back down a city street and turn around. I will not trust this ever again.

Unreliable maps. Needlessly convoluted UI. Tested routing & it went under several low clearance bridges and through a weight-restricted tunnel. Can temporarily (how long is unknown because it doesn't ask) and permanently block road segments, but that's it - no setting of conditions like weight limits so those roads can still be used when appropriate. UI way too disorganized for anything beyond downloading maps and setting next destination. Maps say "Trial" and somewhere in the UI was a reference to 90 days so I'm not sure what happens at that point, but I'm unlikely to keep this installed long enough to find out.

Rip off Why don't you flat out say you are going to charge for the service!! Instead of having to download, go to all the trouble of setting up the app an information. Just to find out you are going to charge $50.00 for the rest of the maps and service. Don't say its free because it isn't.

Great App for Trucks and RV's! I work in production and often have to drive large vehicles in new cities I am n ot familiar with. As much as I love Waze when driving standard vehicles, it's absolutely horrible for trucks! I tried navigating around los angeles using Waze a few weeks ago and it constantly sent me down streets with truck restrictions. I am lucky I didn't end up with any fines! Aponia on the other hand worked great! I set it up with my vehicles size and weight and I never once had an issue with a low overhand or a street with truck restrictions. Never had to make a 16 point K turn to get out of a tight area as I had to a few weeks prior using Waze (which would have been impossible this time as I was driving a 40 ft RV). It got me from Point A to Point B without issue. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it does not re-route for traffic (yet) and sometimes it's not totally clear on what to do during a merge. It will say to stay left and then a second later "take the exit on the right." Luckily that only happened twice on a week long trip the rest of it was smooth sailing.
