If you install (and enable) this app, your smart phone will prefer to connect to 5GHz Wifi networks instead of 2,4GHz networks.

Somewhat misses the point. If this can find a 5GHz only SSID it will disconnect you from your current 2.4GHz SSID and connect you to the 5GHz only one. The trouble is that's simple to do manually. What we need is for this to prefer 5GHz over 2.4GHz for combined 2.4 & 5GHz SSIDs. At least for me, it doesn't do that. :-( Maybe this is the best possible without rooting and low level hacks. I might use it anyway just because it can show which WiFi band is in use.

Looks good. But doesn't work for me. My phone still nearly always chooses 2.4GHz :-(

Works fine on Sony Xperia A little slow on the switchover, leaving a period with no data, but that's probably a function of the phone.
