WiFi Keyboard

Keyboard for keyboard-less phones like Nexus One. Allow you to type on your phone using your computer's _browser_.

It works as ordinary input method. You can use terminal or type SMS ...

Use WiFi for low latency input. 3G may be blocked by some carriers. USB connection works best, but require some technical knowledge and connected cable.

Internet Explorer is not supported and can be unstable. Recommended browser is Chrome.

Source Code (GPL2)

Keywords: remote keyboard, wireless keyboard, browser keyboard, network keyboard, remote input method, http, web server, WiFi and USB.

Recent changes:
2.3.5:
- Enter should work fine again. If it still broken, I'll disable submit on enter for single-line inputs.

2.3.4:
- Disable full screen mode in landscape
- New key combinations supported: Ctrl-Del, Ctrl-Backspace.
- No need to press "submit" button anymore. Enter will submit single-line messages, Ctrl-Enter will submit multiline messages.
(Thanks Daniel Sim for the patch)

Check out "AOSP WiFi Keyboard" if you want this keyboard combined with the standard one (thanks to Marcos Diez).

User reviews of WiFi Keyboard
Not perfect but its very easy to copy/paste some stuff from computer into the phone (for example from my KeePass key safe). And better yet with the change to how the [F4] key works you can even go from the phone to the PC! The [F4] key now copies entire field to browser for editing. Highly recommended. The kbd input swap widget is also handy. There are some prettier alternatives such as "DoMobile ShareKeyboard free" but their copy text buttons don't appear to have keyboard shortcuts, I can just use "F4" on this one...

Connection problem It says no connection between the phone and the computer even after following the instructions. Uninstalling. Help page is a broken link.

Keyboard app to the rescue Got a keyboard layout that occupies much of the screen? Want to type without giving screen space to a keyboard? This is it (if you got your pc/laptop next to you and connected via local LAN or internet) - use the hardware keyboard to type in text for the android device. No need to look for an OTG cable and its the only functional keyboard on the table for both pc/laptop and android device. Well thought out app. (This entire text is typed from wireless pc connected keyboard)
