You're Only Old Once!

You're Only Old Once!

"You must see Dr. Pollen, our Allergy Whiz, who knows every sniffle and itch that there is. He will check your reactions to thumbtacks and glue, catcher's mitts, leaf mould, and cardigans too."

If laughter is the best medicine, then "You’re Only Old Once!" is a delightful new defense against aging. Anyone who has ever submitted to a battery of medical tests will empathize with Dr. Seuss’s Everyman as we follow him through his checkup with the experts at the Golden Years Clinic. From the initial Eyesight and Solvency Test through all the stops along Stethoscope Row to finally being “properly pilled” and “properly billed,” Dr. Seuss lightens the aches and pains of growing old with his inimitable wit and wisdom.

"You're Only Old Once!" was written shortly after Geisel had suffered through a series of illnesses, during which he spent a considerable amount of time in hospital waiting rooms. To pass the time, he began sketching images of hospital machines and scenes of medical procedures. He later began to work those ideas into a book.

"You're Only Old Once" was Seuss's first adult book since The Seven Lady Godivas was published in 1939. The book reached Number One on the New York Times Best Sellers List, and remained on the list for over 60 weeks.

New features only available in this interactive omBook for your Android device include professional narration, background audio and enlarged artwork for each scene.  To promote reading in young children, individual words are highlighted as the story is read and words zoom up when pictures are touched. By combining the original text and artwork of Dr. Seuss with features that entertain and promote reading, this omBook appeals to readers of all ages.

A fun book! Gives us all something to look forward to down the road. Hope my kids enjoy reading it with me and the memories we create reading together will encourage them to put me up in quality senior's housing when the time comes.
