and this time is FREE with all the PRO features enabled!

To configure your VLC, just download and run the following script in your PC (only windows):

Windows will ask you permission to make changes in the VLC folder and allow VLC to access the network. Those actions are necesary for proper function, please allow them.

What does the script?
Basically, It starts VLC with its web interface enabled, and passes it some parameters to improve codec finding and rtsp streaming performance.

Important notes about VideoLan VLC Versions:

RECOMMENDED VLC VERSIONS: 2.0.5, 2.0.3, 2.0.2, 2.0.0, 1.1.11
NOT RECOMMENDED VERSIONS: 2.0.4, 2.0.1, versions older than 1.1.11

supported formats: avi, flv, mp4, mp3, mkv, wmv, jpg, mpeg, mpg, rmvb, m4v, mov, 3gp, ts, vob. (Some videos in these formats might not work because sometimes VLC can't transcode them into an android supported format -mp4 or 3gp-)

VLC media player is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player that plays most multimedia files as well as discs, devices, and network streaming protocols.

This is a BETA version of the port of VLC media player to the Android™ platform. It is intended for power users and hackers. This version is not perfectly stable and is slower than the final version.

It is still a beta, so it might kill your kitten or destroy your house, but it should be fine now.
Use it at your own risk. Have fun! :)

As this is an early BETA version, a lot of things are not finished, but will change for the final release:

• Performance improvements are missing;
• Hardware decoding works only with a limited set of hardware;

• It needs hardware control, in order to change the audio volume;
• It needs phone calls control, in order to pause the music when someone is calling;
• It needs full Internet access to open network streams;
• It needs to be able to read logs, during the beta version, to help understanding the crashes and issues;
• It needs to get access to the SD card storage, in order to allow deletion of files.
• It needs to get access to the settings, in order to change your audio ringtone.

Recent changes:
This is the twelfth beta of VLC for Android.

0.1.0 is a bugfix and performance release compared to the previous ones.
It should solves quite a few crashes and misbehaviors, and should prepare the framework for future improvements.

If you have audio issues, a preference setting allows you to use a different audio method, like AudioTrack (Java).
Another preference is available for video output (YV12 is the fastest, RGB32 the safest).

We keep working on it, but remember, this is still a beta ;)
