Whisky Companion for Android is a complete whisky and whiskey guide for the curious amateur as well as for the experienced collector.

The App comes with detailed information and pictures of more than 2.600 whiskies (bourbon, rye, malts, single malt, cask strength, blended, vatted etc.) from 273 distilleries in 21 countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United States and Wales.

The pre-loaded data for whiskies (Name, Age, Vintage, Bottling year, Alcohol strength, Bottler, Cask Type, Cask Number, Bottle Number, Bottle Size, Chill Filtered) and distilleries (Country, Region, Status, Visitor Center, Classification, Water source, Capacity, Stills, Founded, Owner, Address, Map location, Tel, Email, Web address) can easily be changed, or you can also create new whiskies and distilleries including your own pictures. Clicking on a picture of a distillery or a whisky will maximize the picture size.

You can share your distillery and whisky information with other. Users can create accounts on WhiskyCompanion's network server for **FREE**, and then upload their own distilleries and whiskies. After approval of uploaded material, can uploaded distilleries and whiskies be searched and downloaded by other users.

The app has a **FREE** cloud backup feature that allows users to backup and restore all personal distillery visit notes, whiskies, tasting notes, etc. to WhiskyCompanion's network server.

As more data (content) is published, new countries, distilleries and whiskies can be downloaded to the app's database. These updates will not affect your user data in the database.

Notes from distillery visits can be added to each distillery, and detailed comments and tasting notes (Rating, Colour, Nose, Palate, Body, Finish) may be added to a whisky. All distilleries visited and whiskies tasted will then be available in the “My Whiskies” section, which also includes a wish-list functionality.

Most of the distilleries have map-location for integration with Google Map. When clicking on a distillery location, Map will launch, and this can be switched to Street-View. It is then possible to virtually walk around the distillery.

You can create your own tasting event with picture and key information. Then you can link whiskies to the event and add your tasting notes to those whiskies.

The app also has a zoomable flavour map that shows a high level indication of many distilleries tasting character. The four directions are Light, Rich, Delicate and Smoky.

After installation of the App, the database should be downloaded over a network connection as the database is around 47 MB.

If you update your content, download new content, lose your phone, do a factory reset, or the SD card becomes corrupted, you might lose valuable data. If you enter personal tasting data or your complete whisky collection, we would strongly advise you to take a backup of your database on a regular basis. In the About window you see the location of the database. Just copy the file to your computer, and you should sleep better at night.

The Good Beer Guide app is a service to help you find pubs in the UK that consistently serve cask conditioned real ale in good condition, as well as provide information about breweries and beers using information from the Good Beer Guide, UK's best-selling, independent guide to great beer and great pubs. With full reviews of 4,500 top pubs throughout the UK, as well as details of every real-ale brewery and their regular beers, the Good Beer Guide is published annually by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and now in its 40th year.

This is a free app with an optional annual subscription. Without a subscription the app will have limited functionality allowing you to find the nearest pub and brewery to you. If you are upgrading from an earlier version of the app you will get 3 months free subscription as soon as you create an account.

By signing into your account, the subscription features of app can be used on more than one device, and cross-platform, without additional cost. (so long as the app is installed on all devices).

The Good Beer Guide is created through the work of thousands of volunteer CAMRA members resulting in an annual publication containing the top 4500 pubs that consistently serve well conditioned real ale.

Simple to use, Good Beer Guide Mobile for iPhone offers the following features:

Complete entries for over 4,500 independently-selected urban and rural pubs, giving details of beer, food, opening hours, accommodation, transport links, pub history, disabled access, facilities for families and more. The entire content of the pubs and brewery sections of the Good Beer Guide 2013 book is included in the subscribed version.

Fully independent pub reviews, written by local CAMRA members.

Unique tasting notes for regular beers, written by trained CAMRA tasting panels. Any regular beers served at a pub have the full tasting notes about that beer.

All the information is in the app so there is no need to be online when you search for a pub or brewery. You only need to be online to download updates or search from an address / postcode.

The My Guide feature makes it easy to keep tasting notes, favorites, visited pubs, or your own review of the pub. Save your favourite pubs in My Guide, so you can quickly go back to them later.

Search from your current location, a postcode, place name or London tube station.

Interactive maps within the app help you find your way. Launch the full Maps application to get step by step directions.

Changes to pubs that are reported to CAMRA between editions are automatically updated in the app.

In this update, all customers who bought an edition of the Good Beer Guide Mobile before September 2012, can download the 2012 Legacy Edition. This will work even if you don’t have a subscription to the current Guide. When you download the Legacy Edition the Favourites,Visited Pubs and Comments from the 2012 Edition will be retrieved.
Older Editions will be made available in a future version together with Favourites,Visited Pubs and Comments for each edition, providing that the app has not been uninstalled since.

This version requires Android 2.3 'Gingerbread' or higher. Most handsets from 2010 or later can be upgraded to 2.3 (including Galaxy S). Updates were pushed over the air by most operators to phones in 2011. Check the Android settings to see if an upgrade is available.
