This a content pack for use with Caustic 2. You must have Caustic 2 installed to use this!

This is a small collection of fun presets made from various sample set from Les Productions Zvon.

This pack contains:
- 2 BeatBox kits: Jawharp 01 and Jawharp Plus
- 4 PCMSynth presets: Half Crazy Horn, Trumpet Hits, Supertone LITE (reed organ) and Mini MC1 (47 one-shot samples from Public Domain movies and TV ads).

Chromatic Hits demo (Caustic)

This a content pack for use with Caustic 2. You must have Caustic 2 installed to use this!

The concept: often when I use one-shot samples, I would like to have them play higher or lower without changing their duration and/or having them slow down or speed up. That gave me the idea for this set.

The full set contains 49 instruments for Caustic 2 PCMsynth that can be played chromatically. They are made from resynthesized one-shot samples.

The demo has 2 of the regular full chromatic instruments: Hard hit 02 (T) and Metal 01 (T).
The 4 other files are not chromatic instruments, for these I have instead regrouped on successive keys 2 or 3 samples of each of the 47 other chromatic instruments to allow you to preview all the sounds. The samples of a given instrument in these 4 demo files are 2 octaves apart (but on successive keys) to give a good idea of how it sounds in the full version. Of course this means that in the 4 demo files, the pitch heard does not correspond to the note and the octave played.

The full set is in three volumes that are sold individually:
1- Mix: 27 instruments covering a range of different timbres.
2- Metal: 13 metallic sounding instruments.
3- Cymbals: 9 resynthesized acoustic cymbals/hi-hats.

Many of the instruments can be used as tuned or semi-tuned percussions. All instruments in the full version have 4 samples per octave and most cover at least 6 octaves.

MB Horn for Caustic

This is the full version!
The free demo pack has 7 PCMSynth presets. The paid pack adds 30 for a combined total of 37 PCMSynth presets. Both must be installed to have the complete content.

Marching Band Horn: The exact name of this instrument is unknown. It uses a French horn mouthpiece and the range is a little lower than a trumpet and a little higher than a trombone. To make most of the instruments in this set I played single notes and resynthesized them to create multi-samples. In all cases the resulting tone is still very brassy and close to the natural one.

This library is not meant to perfectly emulate the real instrument. But it is great for adding a horn flavor and also providing a wider range of uses, a good way to add brasses to your compositions. The sounds range from smooth and mellow to hard hitting and growling, from staccatos and stabs to sustained pads.

The free demo pack has 7 PCMSynth presets. The paid pack adds 30 for a combined total of 37 PCMSynth presets, most are multi-sampled. Both must be installed to have the complete content.

Caustic Free Pack 02

The Free Pack 02 contains 2 different sets of quirky and fun sounds, the Mini MC2 kits and the Mechanical Musical Automatons.

There are 3 Mini MC2 kits and they are the follow-up of the Mini MC1 kit in the Free Pack 01. Again the samples are taken from Public Domain movies, documentaries, TV shows and TV ads. The samples are trimmed version of longer samples from the Memory Collection Pack 02 that is available on my website.

The Mechanical Musical Automatons is an experimental set has 9 PCMsynths presets and 4 Beatbox presets. The PCMsynth presets are a set of looped waves that make machine like sounds. Two of the Beatbox kits use the 15 samples of the loops. The two others use shorter samples that were extracted from some of the loops.

Baby Piano demo for Caustic

This is the demo of a content pack for use with Caustic 2.

The Baby Piano is a Chinese Toy Piano. I found it at a flea market and it obviously has seen better days. There are 2 keys missing, its casing is worn out and there are loose parts in it. The sound is not even from one key to another partly because the mechanism of some keys is damaged and it's also not in tune.

It's nonetheless lovely and its sound begged to be sampled. I did not stop there and I also made unique resynthesized sounds from the original samples.

The Caustic version is optimized for the PCMSynth from the regular computer version. The free demo pack has 5 PCMSynth presets. The paid pack adds 9 for a combined total of 14 PCMSynth presets. All are multi-sampled.

Both must be installed to have the complete content.

Julie Resynth demo for Caustic

This is the demo of a content pack for use with Caustic 2.

A fun cyborg vocal sample set, half human and half robot!

This pack is based on one-shot samples of the voice of Julie, a Montreal jazz singer. But here the samples are resynthesized to create new ones that are playable chromatically across the keyboard.

In most cases, the actual flavor and tone of Julie's voice are preserved in the resynthesized samples within her natural range and the notes outside of it, even if less realistic, sound good too.

In all cases, the original variations (pitch and volume) of the vocal samples are preserved with their natural irregularities. Of course when resynthesizing, some of the original sound is either lost or transformed and further modifications can be added but for this set I tried to stay the closest that I could to the original most of the time.

This is not a classic vocal library with choirs (for instance none of the samples are looped), nor is it a synthesized/vocoding sample set. It's an hybrid that retains the flavor of Julie's voice while delivering new original sounds suitable for keyboard playing and melodies.

The Caustic version is adapted for the PCMSynth from the regular computer version. The free demo pack has 6 PCMSynth presets. The paid pack adds 25 for a combined total of 31 PCMSynth presets. All are multisampled.

Both must be installed to have the complete content.

Square Wave soundpack demo

This is the demo of a content pack for use with Caustic 2.
You must have Caustic 2 installed to use this!

The hardware electronic keyboard sampled here is a digital square wave instrument. I don't know exactly how old it is but my guess is that it's at least 20 years old.

The demo has 2 PCMsynth instruments: Oboe and Cowbell.

The complete version of the pack has 12 chromatic sounds:
01- Piano 02- Saxophone 03- Pipe Organ 04- Guitar 05- Trumpet 06- Violin
07- Harpsichord 08- Jazz Organ 09- Synth 10- Cowbell 11- Oboe 12- Clarinet

Additionally, it has a bass and 5 percussion sounds: kick, conga, snare, cymbal and hi-hat.

All these do not sound like the acoustic instruments they're named after but more like the Sid chip, 80's and early 90's video games. Very good retro sounds for chip music (or chiptune).

The samples were recorded directly from the audio out of the keyboard at 16 bits/ 44.1 kHz.

Prepared EP demo

This is the demo of a content pack for use with Caustic 2.
You must have Caustic 2 installed to use this!

The sampled instrument is a real Rhodes electric piano that was prepared as John Cage and others prepared an acoustic piano. That means inserting springs, plastic tubes, pins, all kinds of objects inside the piano. These objects when touching the strings or the tines change the sound of each key played. All the notes can be radically different from each other and often the original sound is not even recognizable. The result is an instrument that is much more percussive in nature.

Even if there are some clean sounds, these are "dirty" samples. When you put things inside an electric piano, a lot of things happen sonically, like strange vibrations and resonance between the objects and the tines. Even the release of the key produces artefacts on notes.

The free demo pack has 16 samples (wav files), 16 PCMSynth presets and 4 Beatbox kits.

The paid pack adds 63 samples, 53 presets and 25 kits for a combined total of 79 samples, 69 PCMSynth presets and 29 Beatbox kits. Both must be installed to have the complete content.
