The only software for finding Bus Routes in Mumbai that uses location information.
The Bestbus route finder helps you navigate the public BEST bus system for Mumbai (Bombay).
This software helps you find buses not only from where you are but also near you and ending near your destination.
When your journey begins, it allows you to watch your progress and advises you as the destination nears.
It also allows you to see all this information on a map.
All the features except for the map, work without an Internet connection.
If your phone is GPS enabled, the application will use it for locating you, else it can find your position based on cell towers.
At present we have covered around 2,000 of the bus stop locations in Mumbai.
You can help us with the stops in your location by emailing us at userfeedback@smartshehar.com with the stop name, gps lat and long and the bus numbers on the spot.

You asked for two things, a central place to run all SmartShehar apps and a way to know about our new apps. Here it is!

SmartShehar Dashboard allows you to run and download all SmartShehar apps from a single location. Less clutter on your home screen.

With ** New Fares updated 11-Oct-2012 *** . All cards for all different combinations, calibrated, uncalibrated, starting at 12 or 15 for Auto, 17 or 19 for Taxi.
This is not only a simple card, it also has a GPS based meter which shows you how much your fare should be.

Also allows you to store the auto/taxi no., fare charged, etc. for each complaints to RTO.
The meter still starts at 1.6 km and not 1.5 km as per newspaper articles and moves by 200 m for every 10 paise, not 100 m. Our card is correct and is as per the RTO official card.
To use the 1.5 km start and 100 km move, the auto/taxi meters have to be recaliberated.

SmartShehar Safety Shield helps people take control of their safety wherever they are. This app is especially for women.
We believe that every woman has the right to go where she pleases, wear what she wants at any hour of the day or night. Our constitution guarantees that.
No entity, religion, political party or police person can tell her anything contrary to this.
It is the uncivilized, retrograde people who try to do this and according to the constitution, action should be taken on them for impeaching on the rights of a woman.
This app can also be used to take pictures if you are taken to a police station after 6 or are being abused by the police.
Photographic evidence is always very powerful.
This app can be used for your own or your companion girl/woman/female's safety or even as a bystander to record a situation for evidence in an emergency.
